Software Architect

Role Overview

As a hands-on Software Architect, you will shape the technical direction of a growing SaaS platform and help teams turn that direction into reliable, production-ready software. You will work across engineering, product, and executive groups—developing architectural plans, testing ideas through prototypes, and guiding modernization and product development so the platform can meet both current customer needs and future demands.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop prototypes and proofs of concept that help engineering teams assess technical approaches before committing to implementation.
• Work with fellow architects and senior engineers to define platform architecture, design principles, and a practical technology roadmap.
• Partner with executive leaders on technology strategy, connecting business priorities with relevant technology and open-source developments.
• Collaborate with product leaders to shape application designs that support planned product capabilities and customer needs.
• Guide the design and integration of major platform capabilities, balancing near-term delivery with scalability, security, and long-term maintainability.
• Lead, coach, and develop architects and software developers, promoting consistent engineering practices and software quality.
• Support Agile delivery across the software development lifecycle, providing architectural guidance from early design through deployment and operation.
• Advance legacy modernization and DevOps practices, using cloud, automation, monitoring, containerization, and AI-assisted engineering tools where appropriate.

Requirements & Qualifications

• At least 10 years of experience across the software development lifecycle in a web-based SaaS environment.
• Experience leading software development teams using Agile methodologies.
• A strong engineering background designing complex systems and enterprise web platforms.
• Hands-on experience with MultiValue database technologies such as UniData, UniVerse, or comparable platforms.
• Practical experience with Node.js, JavaScript, TypeScript, and ASP.NET Core.
• Experience applying DevOps practices and tools for containerization, configuration management, monitoring, deployment, and automation.
• Experience with messaging or streaming systems such as Azure Service Bus, Apache Kafka, or RabbitMQ.
• Experience deploying and troubleshooting applications on Microsoft Azure, AWS, or similar cloud platforms.
• Experience using AI-assisted software engineering tools, including GitHub Copilot and Claude Code, to develop or maintain applications.
• A track record of defining and delivering technology roadmaps, along with an interest in modernizing legacy systems.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, planning, and organizational skills, with the ability to communicate clearly in writing and in conversation.
• Effective leadership and collaboration skills, sound business judgment, and a customer-focused approach to technical decisions.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience.
