Role Overview
You will design, build, and maintain the core software that powers Aceli’s lending operations across multiple African countries. Day-to-day, you’ll work on a Salesforce-based platform—writing code in Apex (very similar to Java), configuring workflow rules, and building integrations with external APIs. Your work directly supports the company’s goal of channelling capital to agricultural SMEs and smallholder farmers, making this a role with tangible social impact and genuine technical complexity.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and enhance platform features using Apex, SOQL, Lightning Web Components, flows, and validation rules; adapt Java or other OOP experience to write scalable platform logic.
- Build configurable solutions (custom metadata, dynamic logic engines) that let business users manage rules without hardcoding.
- Analyse complex operational workflows and design efficient, user-friendly system solutions that reduce manual effort and improve automation.
- Lead code reviews and advocate for code health by establishing automated testing standards and enforcing best practices across the codebase.
- Design, build, and maintain integrations between Salesforce and external systems via REST APIs, ensuring data integrity across platforms.
- Document technical architecture, deployment processes, and user guides; support internal teams in troubleshooting system issues.
- Conduct unit testing and participate in end-to-end and user acceptance testing to ensure quality releases.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field.
- Experience: 2–5 years of professional software engineering with strong object-oriented programming skills in Java, Python, C#, or Kotlin. Familiarity with Spring Boot and relational databases (SQL) is a plus.
- APIs & Integrations: Solid understanding of REST API design and integration patterns; experience building or consuming APIs in Java or similar environments.
- Tooling & Process: Strong grasp of the SDLC including Agile, Git version control, and robust testing/release procedures.
- Design Philosophy: Inclination toward flexible, configurable systems that minimise hardcoding and empower non-technical users.
- Problem-solving: Curious debugger capable of navigating complex system issues and performance bottlenecks.
- Prior Salesforce experience (Apex, Lightning) is advantageous but not required; strong Java or OOP skills are sufficient to transition.
What We Offer / Why Join
- Career growth: Gain deep, hands-on expertise in the Salesforce platform (Apex, integrations, architecture)—a globally in-demand enterprise skill. Aceli supports professional development, including Salesforce certifications.
- Real-world impact: Your code directly enables lending to agricultural SMEs and smallholder farmers across Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Uganda, and Zambia, contributing to a $1.6B Phase 2 capital mobilisation target.
- Enterprise challenges: Work on multi-country operations, complex financial logic, API integrations, and high-volume data—genuine engineering problems, not toy tasks.
