Role Overview
This position is a senior role within BURN Manufacturing's strategy function, focused on shaping the company's expansion across Africa and guiding major capital decisions. Day to day, you will turn complex market and financial analysis into polished business plans and board-level narratives that support fundraising, new market entry, and manufacturing investments. Your work directly influences how leadership prioritises opportunities and communicates the company's direction to investors and board members.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end creation of business plans for equity and debt fundraising efforts, as well as for new product introductions and geographic expansion.
- Design and maintain financial models that underpin investment cases, capital allocation choices, and long-term growth scenarios.
- Carry out market sizing, competitor assessments, and regulatory reviews across multiple African markets to identify where and how the company should scale.
- Distil complex strategic analyses into clear, structured documents for board meetings, investor presentations, and executive decision-making.
- Coordinate with internal teams across finance, operations, and product development to collect data and validate the assumptions driving each business plan.
- Prepare briefing packs and talking points for investor updates, board sessions, and leadership reviews, including tracking follow-up actions when needed.
- Support ad hoc strategy projects such as operational benchmarking, organisational studies, and internal process improvement efforts.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, business administration, or a closely related discipline; an MBA or advanced degree is a plus.
- 4–7 years of professional experience in strategy consulting, investment banking, corporate development, private equity, or an in-house corporate strategy team.
- Proven ability to write investor-ready business plans from scratch, with logical structure, clear storytelling, and minimal need for revision.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with confidence presenting recommendations to senior executives.
- Experience in manufacturing, energy, climate-related industries, or emerging markets is preferred.
- Ability to juggle multiple projects at once while maintaining high-quality output under demanding timelines.
- Self-directed working style, sharp attention to detail, and genuine curiosity about how businesses grow.
