Role Overview
This role sits in the Risk & Compliance team and reports to the Manager – Risk & Compliance. Day to day, the holder keeps the institution's risk picture accurate and current: pulling data from branches and departments, assessing exposures tied to processes, products and partnerships, and converting all of it into reports and mitigation proposals that management and regulators can act on. The position matters because it is the practical checkpoint that ensures material risks are spotted early, measured honestly and managed within the approved Risk Appetite Statement and applicable regulatory expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and refresh the corporate risk register, along with the enterprise risk management policies, frameworks and supporting tools used across the institution.
- Prepare regular Key Risk Indicator reporting and other risk reports as directed by the Manager – Risk & Compliance.
- Run risk and control assessments covering business processes, units, departments, branches and newly introduced products.
- Assess risks arising from new or revised processes, procedures and products, as well as MOUs and partnership agreements, before they are rolled out.
- Identify and monitor loan portfolio risks on a monthly cycle and recommend mitigating actions where exposures are building.
- Record, manage and analyse loss incidents and data relating to fraud cases.
- Chase internal audit and Central Bank inspection findings through to closure with branches and departments.
- Strengthen risk awareness institution-wide through staff training and shared learning material, contribute to annual policy reviews and quarterly procedure reviews, and provide analytical and data support to the wider risk team.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accountancy, Finance or Business Administration.
- Completed professional certification in CPA, ACCA or CIFA.
- At least 3 years' working experience within a financial institution.
- Confident user of the MS Office suite; previous hands-on experience with the T24 banking system is an added advantage.
- Strong written and presentation skills, with the ability to draft policies, risk reports and training material clearly.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills, able to build working relationships across branches and departments and operate effectively as part of a team.
- Self-driven and results-oriented with a positive outlook, and able to travel nationwide at short notice when required.
- A committed practising Christian whose conduct reflects Christian values, and who brings a genuine desire to serve.
