Senior Software Engineer

Role Overview

This position is part of a cross-functional product engineering group responsible for building and maintaining client-facing applications and services. You will spend your time designing new features, writing production-grade Java code, and collaborating with product, design, quality, and platform teams to ship value continuously. Because this role has real ownership over customer-facing systems, your technical judgment and ability to balance speed with reliability directly affect the end-user experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy features across Java-based microservices, taking full ownership from initial concept through production support.
• Write maintainable code and enforce quality through rigorous code reviews, comprehensive unit testing, and regular peer programming sessions.
• Translate customer and product requirements into clear technical designs, working closely with architects and engineering managers to align on system direction.
• Work within existing REST APIs and API management platforms while also designing new interfaces that follow established standards and best practices.
• Participate actively in Agile ceremonies, including story refinement, sprint planning, and retrospectives, to ensure work is well understood and continuously prioritized.
• Balance feature delivery against defect fixes and technical debt reduction, making pragmatic tradeoffs that keep systems healthy.
• Collaborate with DevOps engineers to build, maintain, and improve CI/CD pipelines for smoother deployments and faster feedback loops.
• Foster an experimental, fail-fast mindset that encourages responsible innovation and rapid learning from both successes and failures.

Requirements & Qualifications

• At least 8 years of professional software development experience building enterprise applications with Java technologies.
• Hands-on expertise with modern Java versions (8/11/17 or newer) and the Spring ecosystem, including Spring Boot, Spring MVC, and Spring Security.
• Strong practical experience designing, building, and supporting REST APIs in production environments.
• Demonstrated experience working with microservice architectures, including service decomposition, inter-service communication, and operational concerns.
• Solid understanding of API management concepts and tools for authentication, throttling, monitoring, and versioning.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted engineering tools such as GitHub Copilot or Claude Code to accelerate development, improve code quality, and deepen codebase comprehension.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience collaborating with product managers, designers, and QA engineers in an Agile environment is strongly preferred.
