Job Title: Reinsurance Underwriting Manager

Job Purpose

The job holder will be responsible for the development and implementation of an efficient reinsurance strategy and the execution of underwriting and reinsurance activities aligned with the company’s overall policies and standards. This role is expected to undertake reinsurance program optimization, execute underwriting and reinsurance initiatives to deliver profitability and sustainable growth, enforce underwriting and reinsurance internal controls, and maintain excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities

• Reinsurance Strategy Development: Design and implement a comprehensive reinsurance strategy that supports the company’s underwriting objectives and risk appetite.
• Program Optimization: Analyze and optimize reinsurance programs to maximize coverage, cost efficiency, and capital utilization.
• Underwriting Execution: Lead underwriting and reinsurance activities, ensuring alignment with profitability and growth targets.
• Internal Controls: Enforce robust underwriting and reinsurance internal controls to mitigate risks and ensure compliance with company policies.
• Customer Service: Maintain high standards of customer service by ensuring timely and accurate handling of reinsurance transactions and queries.

Qualifications

Minimum Academic Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university.

Professional Qualifications:
A Diploma in Insurance (ACII/AIIK) or membership of the IIK professional body is an added advantage.

Experience:
Minimum five (5) years of relevant working experience in reinsurance.
