Role Overview
This position leads civil and structural maintenance engineering across Sports Kenya’s stadium facilities, with a focus on concrete infrastructure and the systems that keep venues safe and operational. The engineer translates technical standards, statutory rules, and internal work instructions into practical maintenance procedures, then oversees surveys, specifications, budgets, and reporting for assigned projects. The role matters because well-maintained stadium structures protect public safety, support uninterrupted events, and preserve the organisation’s ability to deliver its sporting mandate.
Key Responsibilities
- Interpret civil engineering codes, technical specifications, and regulatory requirements so that maintenance procedures for stadium structures remain compliant and fit for purpose.
- Plan and supervise capital and operational concrete works across stadium infrastructure, coordinating repairs, upgrades, and support activities to sustain facility use.
- Conduct technical and condition surveys of stadium buildings, stands, foundations, and other civil assets, documenting defects, risks, and recommended interventions.
- Prepare job specifications, scopes of work, and material requirement requests for infrastructure maintenance projects.
- Implement sectional or unit maintenance plans and monitor progress to improve the reliability and availability of operational areas.
- Carry out performance management reviews for assigned projects, checking timelines, costs, and deliverables against corporate objectives.
- Contribute to annual departmental work plans and track expenditure so that maintenance works proceed within approved budgets.
- Compile monthly, quarterly, and annual performance reports for assigned projects to inform departmental decision-making.
Requirements & Qualifications
- At least six years of relevant civil or structural engineering experience, including three years at Engineer I level or in a comparable role.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or an equivalent qualification from a recognised institution.
- Professional membership with the Engineering Board of Kenya (EBK).
- Certificate in a management course lasting at least four weeks from a recognised institution.
- Proficiency in computer applications, including tools used for engineering documentation, reporting, and project tracking.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret technical standards, conduct condition surveys, prepare maintenance specifications, and monitor project budgets and performance.
