Role Overview
This role places you at the heart of a school's daily operations, where your primary focus is to maintain a secure and orderly environment for learners, staff, and visitors alike. Day to day, you will manage entry points, patrol the campus, and respond swiftly to any security concern, always acting as a calm and authoritative presence. Your diligence directly supports the school's commitment to safety, enabling teaching and learning to continue without disruption.
Key Responsibilities
- Control and monitor access at all school entrances, verifying the identity of visitors, staff, and learners before granting entry.
- Conduct scheduled and random patrols across the campus, including classrooms, parking lots, perimeter fences, and common areas, to detect and deter security risks.
- Protect learners, staff, and school property by remaining alert to unusual activity, unauthorized persons, or potential hazards at all times.
- Respond promptly to security incidents, alarms, and emergencies, taking appropriate action to contain situations and escalate when necessary.
- Maintain accurate, legible records of shift activities, incidents, visitor logs, and patrol checks, ensuring all documentation is completed in a timely manner.
- Enforce school rules related to safety and discipline, cooperating with administrators and teachers to address behavioural concerns that could impact security.
- Liaise with local law enforcement or emergency services when required, providing clear and factual reports of incidents.
- Operate security equipment such as CCTV systems, radios, and access control tools, reporting any malfunctions for timely repair.
Requirements & Qualifications
- At least two years of professional security experience, with clear evidence of reliability and sound judgement.
- A valid Certificate of Good Conduct from the relevant authorities, confirming no criminal record.
- A strong commitment to professionalism, vigilance, and integrity, reflecting the trust placed in school security personnel.
- Excellent observational and communication skills, capable of interacting respectfully with learners, parents, and colleagues.
- Physical fitness and the ability to stand, walk, and patrol for extended periods, including in varied weather conditions.
- Basic report-writing skills to document incidents clearly and accurately.
- Experience in a school, residential, or institutional environment is considered an added advantage.
- Availability to work flexible shifts, including weekends and public holidays, as security coverage is required around the clock.
