Job Description

The Sales Team Leader – Malindi Region is a front-line sales leadership role for a growing lending operation. You will own the region's sales performance end to end: guiding a team of Sales Agents, growing a healthy loan book, and making sure the portfolio you build performs long after disbursement. This matters because the region's results depend less on any single deal and more on how well the team is recruited, coached and kept on track.

Role Overview

Day to day, you split your time between the field and the numbers. You set targets and routes for your Sales Agents, accompany them on client visits, review applications coming through the pipeline, and monitor repayments and arrears so that growth does not come at the cost of credit quality. You are the region's bridge between what the business wants to achieve and what actually happens with customers on the ground.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, motivate and manage a team of Sales Agents, setting clear sales targets and holding regular performance conversations.
  • Build and manage a high-quality loan portfolio for the region, from prospecting and customer onboarding through to disbursement and repayment.
  • Recruit, train, coach and develop Sales Agents, building a strong pipeline of talent and retaining high performers.
  • Monitor portfolio performance and collections, tracking arrears, following up on overdue accounts and protecting overall credit quality.
  • Scan the local market for new opportunities, identify untapped customer segments and generate leads to widen the region's reach.
  • Drive individual and team achievement of sales targets, and step in with hands-on support where performance falls short.
  • Oversee accurate documentation and adherence to lending policies and procedures across the team.
  • Report on sales activity, portfolio health and collection trends to management.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a business-related field, such as sales and marketing, commerce, business administration, finance or economics.
  • At least 2 years' experience leading or supervising a sales team, ideally in a lending, financial services or similarly target-driven environment.
  • A demonstrated track record of achieving and exceeding sales targets, individually and through a team.
  • Strong leadership, communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to coach and develop others.
  • Results-oriented mindset paired with excellent customer relationship skills.
  • Comfort working in the field, engaging directly with customers and agents across the Malindi Region.
