The society was formed mainly to promote thrift among its members by affording them an opportunity for accumulating their savings; and to thereby create a source of funds from which loans can be made to them exclusively for provident and productive purposes, at fair and reasonable rates of interest; thereby enabling them to use and control their money for their mutual benefit. The Sacco’s founder members were: Dennis Wambugu (Chairman), Jane Waweru (Secretary), Simon Kanani, James Wahome Charity Kanyeki and Fred Gitau. Initially, there was no dedicated office for KIMISITU, elected officials operated from their respective employment offices and later moved to city centre in a shared office. Later the office returned to ICRAF Complex when the management of the latter agreed to provide office space at ICRAF House for the then two staff - The Manager and Accounts Clerk. In order to achieve a solid base for growth, Kimisitu opened membership to other international organizations. Among the first organizations to be admitted included IDRC, Ford Foundation and the Rockefeller Foundation consecutively in the formative years. The society has enjoyed tremendous success such that as at 31st December 2015 it had over 400 member organizations and over 7,000 individual members. View more View less

Job Description

Role Overview

As a Regional Sales Agent, you will be the face of Kimisitu DT Sacco in the field, working within an assigned region to bring in new members and keep existing ones engaged with the Sacco's savings and loan offerings. Your day is spent on the move — following up leads, running activation drives, meeting prospects, and making sure every member you recruit opens a fully funded, active account. This position sits at the heart of the Sacco's expansion strategy, because growth in Nakuru, Kisumu and Mombasa depends directly on how effectively members are recruited, retained, and introduced to the full product range.

Key Responsibilities

  • Source new sales prospects and work through leads, referrals and walk-in enquiries to build a healthy pipeline.
  • Plan and execute sales activation drives, market storms and outreach events within the assigned region.
  • Recruit new members while applying due diligence and Know Your Customer policies at every step of onboarding.
  • Follow up with newly recruited members to confirm their accounts are funded, active and transacting.
  • Meet agreed sales targets measured across daily, weekly and monthly cycles.
  • Educate members and prospects on savings, loan and service options, and cross-sell the Sacco's portfolio where it fits their needs.
  • Build and maintain lasting member relationships, including preparing and delivering presentations to prospective customers and groups.
  • Compile and submit periodic sales reports to your supervisor, and support the roll-out of sales, marketing and business growth initiatives.
  • Carry out any other official duties assigned from time to time.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • A Certificate or Diploma in Co-operative Management, Business Administration, Marketing, or an equivalent qualification.
  • Prior sales and marketing experience within a financial institution is an added advantage.
  • Confident interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage members one-on-one and address groups.
  • Able to work independently in the field while still contributing as part of a wider team.
  • Demonstrated integrity in handling member information and onboarding documentation.
  • Comfortable working to targets and reporting against them on a regular schedule.
  • Willingness to be based in and travel across the assigned region (Nakuru, Kisumu or Mombasa).

What We Offer / Why Join

  • Earnings built on a commission structure, supported by a monthly retainer of Kes. 30,000.
  • A field-based role with real ownership of your territory and direct visibility of your impact on regional growth.
  • Close working relationships with the Marketing, Credit and Finance teams, who support your work with members.
  • An inclusive employer — people with disabilities are encouraged to apply.

To be considered, send an application letter together with a detailed CV to [email protected], using the job title as the subject line, by close of business on 1st October 2026.
