About the Role
We are seeking a proactive, highly commercial Sales Team Lead – Exhibitions to drive commercial growth and lead front-line B2B sales operations across our elite portfolio of East and Central African trade shows and conferences. Your primary focus is generating high-velocity revenue through the direct sale of custom exhibition booth spaces and premium corporate sponsorship packages, specifically tailored to the Textile and Fashion sectors. This role demands an agile closer who can lead a target-driven sales floor while personally cultivating strategic relationships with local and international B2B and B2G entities. You will ensure your team consistently surpasses individual and collective KPIs, collaborating closely with marketing and logistics divisions to deliver world-class event execution.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Commercial Sales Execution & Lead Acquisition
- Maximize exhibition space occupancy and corporate sponsorship monetization via outbound telephone campaigns, digital outreach, and face-to-face pitch meetings.
- Continuously map competitive landscapes, identifying fresh business leads across relevant manufacturing, logistics, and retail sub-sectors.
- Author and present detailed, visually compelling commercial proposals and slide decks tailored to institutional client budgets.
- Represent the brand actively at external trade symposiums, networking circles, and industrial forums to expand the regional enterprise database.
- Travel to domestic and international business hubs as required to secure cross-border trade show participants.
Client Retention & Portfolio Growth
- Manage relationships with existing B2B accounts to ensure multi-event renewals and increased repeat-spend patterns.
- Translate complex client brand objectives into custom structural activations on the exhibition floor, maximizing their corporate return on investment.
- Resolve account disputes, logistical adjustments, and floor space concerns decisively to protect the firm’s customer satisfaction metrics.
Team Leadership & Performance Analytics
- Manage a dedicated team of outbound event sales specialists, providing real-time technical mentorship and tracking daily pipeline conversion metrics.
- Establish clear weekly accountability structures, tracking personal and collective progress against strict sales volume targets.
- Audit and maintain flawless operational records within CRM systems (HubSpot/Salesforce), ensuring zero pipeline data gaps.
- Review web analytics tools and marketing metrics regularly to uncover new buyer trends and target markets.
Cross-Departmental Synchronization
- Interface directly with event operations and on-site logistics crews to guarantee seamless physical booth delivery and partner asset setup.
- Provide routine pipeline visibility reports and performance updates to the executive leadership team.
- Coordinate with marketing divisions to synchronize brand promotional messaging with live sales pushes and flash floor space windows.
Required Qualifications & Experience
Minimum Entry Criteria
- Academic Foundation: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, International Relations, or a related commercial discipline from a recognized university.
- Industry Tenure: Minimum 3 years of progressive B2B sales experience, with a highly preferred focus within trade exhibitions, large-scale conferences, corporate media, or premium event management.
- Leadership Footprint: Proven experience directly leading or supervising an outbound sales or business development team.
- Technical Toolbox: Advanced proficiency with modern CRM suites (Salesforce, HubSpot), standard office applications (Word, PowerPoint), and web tracking dashboards.
