Job Description

Role Overview

This position leads the bank’s card sales function, with a focus on expanding the physical and virtual card portfolio while ensuring that existing cards are actively used to generate revenue. You will oversee a dedicated sales team, shape sales strategy, and work closely with branches and product teams to identify new opportunities, improve customer experience, and protect asset quality. The role balances commercial growth with hands-on team leadership and market analysis.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive portfolio growth by acquiring new credit, prepaid, and debit card customers, with emphasis on both physical and virtual card issuance.
  • Boost card activation and transaction frequency so that card products deliver measurable value to the bank.
  • Set daily, weekly, and monthly sales direction for the card sales team, coordinating activities across channels and branches.
  • Review and recommend credit limit adjustments that support portfolio growth while keeping non-performing loans within acceptable thresholds.
  • Spot untapped market segments and build long-term relationships through cross-selling of other bank products, with the goal of creating a diversified and stable revenue stream.
  • Maintain a high standard of customer service, ensuring that card customers remain loyal and satisfied through responsive, customer-friendly solutions.
  • Mentor, coach, and develop the sales team to consistently deliver at least 10 closed sales per person per month, addressing performance gaps quickly.
  • Lead product campaigns and sales drives, including presenting new application forms and tools to teams and external stakeholders.
  • Collect and interpret frontline market feedback, then translate it into clear recommendations for product enhancements or new product features.
  • Provide ongoing training to the sales team and branch colleagues, raising the overall capability and confidence of everyone involved in card sales.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • A business-related degree from a recognised institution.
  • At least 2 years of hands-on experience specifically in card issuing, including card product lifecycle and operational processes.
  • A minimum of 3 years of proven sales experience, ideally within banking or financial services.
  • At least 1 year of relationship management experience, with the ability to manage key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of credit risk principles and how card limits and usage tie into a healthy asset portfolio.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team, meet monthly sales quotas, and use data to coach individuals toward better performance.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, comfortable leading campaigns and fronting customer engagements.
