Role Overview
This position leads the corporate insurance arm of a growing insurer, with a mandate to expand the client base across key economic sectors while protecting the quality and profitability of the existing book. Day to day, you will balance strategic planning with hands-on client engagement—overseeing tenders, nurturing executive relationships, and guiding a team of corporate sales professionals to deliver on premium and retention targets. Your work directly shapes the company’s market position and long-term revenue stability.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and execute a corporate sales roadmap that targets specific industries and high-potential economic sectors, translating high-level goals into quarterly action plans.
- Identify, prepare, and submit responses to corporate tenders, managing the full bid lifecycle and ensuring timely follow-up with procurement and decision-makers.
- Build and deepen relationships with strategic corporate accounts by conducting regular on-site visits, business reviews, and structured executive engagement sessions.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and client needs to produce actionable intelligence that informs new product development and go-to-market strategies.
- Collaborate closely with underwriting teams to balance risk selection with revenue ambitions, ensuring that new and renewed business remains profitable.
- Partner with claims and service teams to identify friction points in the client journey and implement improvements that boost retention and customer satisfaction.
- Lead, coach, and mentor the corporate business team—setting performance targets, reviewing pipelines, and building a culture of disciplined selling and continuous learning.
- Track portfolio performance against premium, profitability, and retention metrics, adjusting strategies where underperformance emerges.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Insurance, Business, Finance, or a related discipline from a recognised university.

- At least five years of senior-level experience in corporate or commercial insurance, with a demonstrated history of managing large client portfolios and achieving revenue targets.
- Proven leadership capabilities, including experience supervising account managers or business development executives.
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to interpret financial data, underwrite risk concepts, and negotiate complex terms.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the confidence to engage C-suite executives and public-sector stakeholders.
- Familiarity with tender processes, procurement frameworks, and corporate governance requirements in the insurance industry.
- Ability to travel for client meetings and industry events as required by the role.
