Role Overview
This is a hands-on new-business role for someone who likes building a territory from scratch and then keeping the accounts they win. You will spend your time hunting opportunities across your assigned market segments, running demonstrations, negotiating terms, and closing deals, while also looking after an existing portfolio so those customers keep adopting and expanding what they bought. Sitting at the front of the revenue engine, your pipeline and retention work directly decide whether the company meets its growth commitments.
Key Responsibilities
- Prospect and qualify. Open new opportunities in your territory through cold calling, in-person visits, referrals, networking, and digital outreach, then screen each one against business need, potential value, buying authority, and readiness to purchase so your pipeline stays genuinely winnable.
- Run demonstrations. Present and demo the company's products and services in a way that ties specific capabilities, pricing, and value directly to the customer's operating problems.
- Negotiate and close. Agree commercial terms within approved limits, keep momentum through the full sales cycle, convert qualified prospects into paying customers, and spot cross-sell and upsell openings as you go.
- Grow existing accounts. Manage a portfolio of key and strategic customers, coordinate with internal teams on smooth onboarding, drive continued product adoption, watch satisfaction levels, and step in early when retention is at risk.
- Deliver against targets. Meet or beat monthly, quarterly, and annual goals for revenue, customer acquisition, transaction volumes, inventory growth, and other agreed commercial metrics, supported by an individual sales plan that aligns with the wider commercial strategy.
- Keep pipeline data accurate. Record every prospect, deal value, expected close date, conversion probability, and next action in the CRM or designated sales system, and make sure no opportunity sits inactive without a documented follow-up.
- Report and collaborate. Submit timely sales and pipeline reports, and partner with Technical, Customer Service, Finance, Marketing, and Operations teams on demos, implementations, training, invoicing and collections, campaigns, events, and strategic account planning.
- Stay market-aware and act with integrity. Keep current on products, pricing, competitors, and industry shifts, feed market intelligence and recurring customer feedback back to management, and represent the company ethically — never making unauthorized discounts, commitments, or side agreements, and always protecting confidential company and customer information.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or diploma in Business Management, Marketing, Sales, Commerce, Information Technology, or a comparable field.
- 2–3 years of proven B2B sales experience, ideally selling software, technology, SaaS, ERP, fintech, payments, or similar business solutions.
- A demonstrable track record of hitting sales or revenue targets.
- Practical experience across the full cycle: prospecting, lead generation, sales presentations, negotiation, and closing.
- Comfort working in a CRM or other pipeline management tool to track and progress opportunities.
- Strong command of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- A professional sales certification such as CPSA or an equivalent is an advantage.
- Industry knowledge relevant to the company's products and target markets is an advantage.
- Core strengths in commercial selling, execution and performance discipline, analytical and reporting work, and relationship building across teams and customers.
