Role Overview
This position sits at the very front of the revenue cycle, where you are often the first person a prospective customer ever speaks with. Day to day, that means working a steady volume of outbound touchpoints, researching target accounts, and opening genuine conversations with the people who make buying decisions. The work matters because every growth target downstream depends on it — without consistent, well-qualified top-of-funnel activity, the sales team's calendars empty out and the forecast becomes guesswork.
Key Responsibilities
- Build pipeline through outbound activity: cold calls, targeted email sequences, and persistent follow-up across phone, email, and other channels.
- Research target accounts and pinpoint the right decision-makers to approach, then earn a meeting by opening with something relevant and credible.
- Run first-pass discovery conversations to understand a prospect's situation, challenges, and buying context, and judge honestly whether the fit is real.
- Deliver qualified appointments to Business Consultants along with enough background — stakeholders involved, competing options, expected timeline — that the next conversation starts warm rather than cold.
- Segment prospect lists by industry, company size, and market signals so outreach effort lands where the potential is strongest.
- Keep CRM records accurate and current, tracking every interaction, activity, and stage of progress, and cleaning or enriching contact data so the rest of the team can rely on it.
- Meet or exceed activity and outcome targets covering outbound calls, appointments set, qualified opportunities, and completed account profiles.
- Partner with senior sellers through coaching, role-playing, call shadowing, and debriefs to sharpen technique and prepare for a closing role.
Requirements & Qualifications
- At least six months of experience in business development, sales development, lead generation, or a comparable sales position.
- Comfort with high-volume outbound work — cold calling doesn't intimidate you, and rejection doesn't slow you down.
- Practical experience with a CRM platform; Salesforce is strongly preferred. Careful data entry and record hygiene are treated here as core duties, not overhead.
- Able to conduct a discovery conversation: listen more than you talk, ask questions that surface real needs, and recognise when an opportunity is worth pursuing and when it isn't.
- Working grasp of market segmentation and buyer personas — knowing how to adapt a message for a specific industry, company size, or market condition.
- Clear written and verbal communication, plus the persistence to follow up consistently without becoming a nuisance.
- Organised enough to juggle many simultaneous conversations, track your own performance metrics, and manage your time with limited supervision.
- Associate's or bachelor's degree in business or a related field is preferred; an equivalent mix of education, training, and hands-on experience is equally acceptable.
What We Offer / Why Join
Development is treated as part of the job here rather than a side benefit. Structured sales training, regular coaching, role-playing sessions, and the opportunity to shadow client meetings with experienced sellers are woven into the normal weekly rhythm. You'll also contribute to team projects and cross-functional initiatives, and the skills you build — prospecting, discovery, pipeline discipline — are the same ones that move people into closing roles.
