Road Rescue Officer

Role Overview

This position centres on providing prompt, dependable roadside assistance and vehicle recovery to motorists in distress. Day to day, you will respond to callouts, diagnose faults on the spot, and either carry out repairs or arrange a safe tow. Your work directly keeps stranded drivers moving again and reduces the disruption caused by breakdowns and accidents.

Key Responsibilities

• Attend breakdown and accident scenes in a service vehicle, assessing situations quickly and calmly
• Perform vehicle recovery operations safely using appropriate equipment, including towing and winching procedures
• Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using your knowledge of automotive systems and diagnostic tools
• Carry out on-site repairs and routine maintenance to get vehicles roadworthy again
• Inspect vehicles for safety issues and advise customers on necessary follow-up work
• Operate and maintain service vehicles and recovery equipment in line with safety standards
• Communicate clearly with customers and dispatch teams, providing accurate updates on job status and site conditions
• Complete documentation for each callout, including service records and any relevant incident reports

Requirements & Qualifications

• Valid open driving licence covering classes B, C, and E (as specified by the employer)
• Proven hands-on experience in road rescue and vehicle recovery operations
• Solid skills in engine diagnostics, routine maintenance, and repair work
• Working knowledge of automotive electrical and mechanical systems
• Proficiency in spoken and written English, enough to interact with customers and complete paperwork accurately
