Role Overview
As Senior Project Engineer, you will guide Project Engineers and interns while coordinating the people, equipment, and schedules needed to bring manufacturing projects into production. You will work across product development, design, tooling, production, quality, and commercial functions to turn product plans into practical assembly processes, well-equipped lines, and controlled project documentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Set priorities and allocate work for Project Engineers and interns, tracking progress, resource needs, and delivery dates.
- Coordinate with New Product Development to understand the product roadmap and plan engineering support across projects.
- Prepare and maintain project records in accordance with the product development stage-gate process.
- Use commercial forecasts to plan product build studies, establish assembly work content, and determine cycle times.
- Calculate TAKT times, balance production lines, and develop assembly-line layouts suited to the required output.
- Plan and monitor assembly-line CAPEX, including the sourcing and tracking of tools, equipment, and other project requirements.
- Define manufacturing process flows and contribute to product packaging solutions.
- Map departmental processes and create consistent SOPs, templates, and technical documentation.
- Work with Engineering Design and Tooling to develop jigs, fixtures, QC gauges, tooling setup sheets, and assembly or process instructions.
- Partner with Production and Quality to identify improvements that increase productivity and strengthen line balance.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience in project engineering or manufacturing engineering, preferably in a manufacturing setting.
- Experience leading a team, allocating resources, and delivering projects to agreed schedules.
- Practical knowledge of assembly-line design, TAKT-time calculations, line balancing, and manufacturing-process improvement.
- Experience with process mapping, SOP creation, technical documentation, and continuous improvement work.
- Familiarity with CAPEX planning, equipment procurement, and project cost tracking.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, planning, and organizational abilities.
- Clear communication skills and the ability to collaborate across engineering, commercial, production, tooling, and quality teams.
