Role Overview
This position sits at the heart of our retail lending operations, where you will own the end-to-end relationship with corporate scheme clients — from large employers and institutions to the individual customers enrolled under those schemes. Day to day, you balance proactive business development with disciplined credit risk management, ensuring that the scheme facility book remains healthy, collections stay on track, and every stakeholder interaction strengthens trust in our brand. Your ability to spot early signs of distress and act before issues escalate directly protects the quality of the portfolio and supports sustainable growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and grow a portfolio of retail scheme relationships, acting as the primary point of contact for corporate partners, institutional clients, and individual scheme members.
- Continuously review the scheme facility book to identify potential credit deterioration, payment delays, or behavioural red flags that require intervention.
- Proactively engage with scheme companies and individual borrowers to negotiate repayment plans, resolve arrears, and ensure obligations are met on time.
- Coordinate with internal departments such as credit, risk, legal, and operations to facilitate smooth scheme administration and resolve complex account issues.
- Work with external parties — including employers, payroll teams, and third-party administrators — to maintain accurate records and streamline the collection process.
- Prepare and present portfolio performance reports to management, highlighting trends, risks, and recommended actions for the scheme book.
- Maintain a strong professional presence at formal meetings and networking functions to build long-lasting relationships with scheme partners and key decision-makers.
- Ensure all scheme activities comply with internal credit policies, legal requirements, and evolving regulatory standards.
Requirements & Qualifications
- A university degree in finance, business administration, economics, or a related business discipline.
- Demonstrable experience in relationship management within a financial services or banking environment, ideally serving both corporate and retail customers.
- Solid track record in credit management, including assessing creditworthiness, managing exposure, and handling non-performing facilities.
- Prior portfolio management experience in a financial institution, with the ability to balance profitability against asset quality.
- Working knowledge of the credit industry, including legal processes relevant to scheme administration, collections, and debt recovery.
- Strong public relations skills, with the confidence to represent the organisation in formal and social settings and cultivate effective working relationships at all levels.
- High attention to detail and the ability to interpret financial data to make sound, timely decisions.
