Job Description

Role Overview

This role sits at the centre of the mortgage division's analytical and coordination effort, giving the Director Mortgage the timely, accurate picture needed to run the business profitably. Day to day, the holder mines lending, transactional and workflow systems for data, converts it into budgets, forecasts, variance explanations and productivity dashboards, and keeps operational risk, service standards and administrative follow-through tightly managed. It matters because mortgage growth depends on decisions being grounded in reliable numbers and on actions being communicated, tracked and closed out across branches, head office functions and scheme partners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver timely, accurate reporting and analysis that benchmarks the division's results against historical performance, approved budgets, forecasts and strategic plans, so leadership can act on the numbers rather than react to them.
  • Extract, reconcile and maintain mortgage data from multiple source points — the enterprise data warehouse (EDWH), T24, Tranzware, the Mobireg portal, BPM and Credit Quest — writing SQL Oracle scripts to convert warehouse tables and CQ output into reporting formats that non-technical readers can consume.
  • Prepare monthly balance sheet, income statement and budget variance analysis, and contribute to annual budgets, quarterly forecasts and three-year strategic plans alongside the Director's line managers.
  • Review monthly expenditure to confirm costs are booked correctly, work with Finance on correcting entries, run cost-to-income evaluations, and investigate where revenue can be lifted or costs trimmed.
  • Maintain productivity dashboards covering mortgage relationship managers, mortgage direct sales representatives and other relationship managers across the branch network and regions, with daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and ad hoc analysis of trends, sector growth, individual output, service quality and controls.
  • Work with relationship managers to ensure quarterly submissions to KMRC and other scheme administrators are completed on schedule.
  • Carry out market and competitor research to benchmark the mortgage product, and translate complex findings into clear insight that supports the Director's decisions on key business deliverables per segment.
  • Hold custody of the division's annual business targets, update them as directed, champion initiatives such as product development, sales improvement and penetration reviews, validate data integrity through quality checks, circulate confidential business information securely to the branch network, and follow up with Branch Managers, Corporate Division and head office functions until pending matters are resolved.
  • Maintain a training-needs database for the division's staff cadres, help schedule training with HR and other head office units, and support the development and rollout of a mortgage academy.
  • Provide responsive administrative support and correspondence handling, keep track of the Regional Manager's diary and follow-up items, and distribute incoming mail promptly to the relevant Regional Managers.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree from a recognised university (required). A Master's degree in a business-related discipline is an added advantage.
  • Professional qualifications: AKIB, CPA (K) or ACCA is an added advantage.
  • Experience: A minimum of three years in performance analysis, three years in financial analysis and three years in budget forecasting.
  • Practical command of SQL/Oracle scripting and data extraction from warehouse environments, with working familiarity with core banking and lending systems such as T24, Tranzware, Mobireg, BPM and Credit Quest.
  • Demonstrated use of financial analysis techniques and tools to advise business heads and management on decisions that improve results.
  • Proven ability to turn complex data into plain-language insight for stakeholders who are not data specialists.
  • Understanding of operational risk management, customer service standards and sales culture within a banking or mortgage environment.
  • Strong organisational and liaison skills, discretion in handling confidential information, and the discipline to follow pending issues through to closure.
