Social Media & Content Producer — Creative Agency, Nairobi
Role Overview
This is a hands-on creative role for a Nairobi-based agency that builds launch campaigns for new restaurants, bars and hospitality brands. You will take a client from a bare-named concept to a venue the city is already arguing about before the doors open, working across campaign strategy, on-location content shoots and day-to-day social channel management. It matters because the agency's reputation rests on whether its launches actually create noise and footfall — your output is the product clients buy.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop the launch narrative for each new venue — the story, the mood, the reasons people should care — and translate it into a phased rollout plan covering teaser, build-up, opening week and post-launch momentum.
- Shoot and produce original content on site: stills, short-form vertical video, behind-the-scenes footage, dish and interior details, staff and founder moments.
- Edit that footage into platform-ready assets for Instagram, TikTok and similar channels, including captions, sound choices and cuts tested against what is currently performing.
- Run the client's social accounts day to day: content calendar, scheduling, copywriting in the brand's voice, comment and DM replies, and proactive engagement with local food and lifestyle communities.
- Write and manage creative briefs for shoots, coordinating photographers, videographers, stylists, designers, invited creators and the client's own team on timing and deliverables.
- Identify and brief Nairobi-based creators, media and tastemakers whose audiences overlap with the venue's target crowd, then track what their coverage actually produces.
- Monitor performance across posts and campaigns — reach, saves, shares, profile visits, reservations or bookings where measurable — and turn those numbers into clear reports and recommendations.
- Keep every touchpoint consistent: menus, signage copy, press notes, event listings and social captions should all sound like the same brand.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Three or more years in social media management, content production or campaign work, ideally at an agency or within hospitality, food, lifestyle or consumer brands.
- A portfolio showing launches or campaigns you personally shaped — not just accounts you posted to — with clear evidence of the strategy behind the output.
- Confident short-form video editing and basic photo retouching (Premiere Pro, Final Cut, CapCut, Lightroom or similar) plus comfort with design tools such as Canva, Figma or Photoshop.
- Strong written English with an ear for tone; fluency or working proficiency in Swahili is an added advantage for community-facing copy and on-the-ground shoots.
- Working knowledge of analytics and scheduling tools — Meta Business Suite, TikTok analytics, Later, Buffer or equivalents — and the ability to read a dashboard critically.
- Comfortable working on location, on your feet, around service hours; launch weeks and venue openings can mean evenings, weekends and fast turnarounds.
- Proven ability to juggle several client accounts at once, hold deadlines without hand-holding, and stay composed when a shoot runs late or a client changes direction the day before opening.
- Diploma or degree in marketing, communications, journalism, media production, design or a related field, or equivalent practical experience that clearly substitutes for it.
