By conducting business on the principles of Shari'ah, the bank would provide an ethical and fair mode of banking for all. Gulf African Bank is the first and largest Islamic Bank in Kenya and one of the fastest growing banks in the history of the banking sector of the country. The bank offers fully Shari'ah compliant products and services that address the needs of not just Muslims, but everyone in the country including individuals, corporate companies, and institutions. The bank was incorporated on August 9th, 2006 and started operations as a commercial bank in January 8th 2008, in a historic event, where it was granted the country’s first fully-fledged commercial banking license as a dedicated Islamic bank, by the Central Bank of Kenya. Job Description

Role Overview

Working alongside the Senior Corporate Relationship Manager, this role keeps an assigned book of corporate clients running smoothly day to day while actively growing the revenue those relationships produce. The job holder manages the administrative and operational mechanics behind each account — client instructions, documentation and compliance checks — and uses that dependable service base to deepen relationships and unlock further business within the existing client ecosystem. Performance is judged against agreed net fee income (NFI) targets, achieved by lifting transaction volumes and widening the bank's product footprint across the portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive net fee income growth across the assigned portfolio by cross-selling the bank's products and services to existing and prospective corporate customers.
  • Prepare and maintain robust account plans for the portfolio's strategic clients, setting out targets, opportunities and the actions required to increase the bank's share of each client's business.
  • Act as the day-to-day link between the bank and its corporate clients on all portfolio administration matters, answering queries and escalating issues that need faster resolution.
  • Deliver prompt, accurate solutions to client requests, channel client feedback back to the relevant internal teams, and guard against any mis-selling or misrepresentation in every interaction.
  • Represent the bank at market awareness activities, including sales activations, promotional campaigns and product launches.
  • Execute customer instructions quickly and without error, and meet the bank's internal requirements for processing asset facilities.
  • Keep the portfolio fully compliant with KYC policies, regulator rules and the bank's code of ethics, working closely with branches, operations and risk and compliance colleagues to close out compliance items expeditiously.
  • Protect and promote the bank's image in all internal and external dealings, always acting in the bank's best interests.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • University degree from a recognised institution, ideally with a bias toward business studies or marketing.
  • At least five years of banking experience, including a minimum of one year in relationship management or a customer experience role.
  • Cross-cutting exposure to customer service, business and operations functions would be an added advantage.
  • Sound knowledge of banking products and how they apply to corporate client needs.
  • A proven sales track record, supported by strong selling, presentation and negotiation skills.
  • Emotional intelligence and the resilience to perform under pressure in a competitive, fast-changing environment.
  • Strong networking skills for both internal and external relationships, combined with excellent interpersonal and communication ability.
  • Commercial awareness, a genuine customer focus, and solid leadership, organisational and planning skills.
  • A self-driven, hardworking, honest and well-groomed professional who is confident, eloquent and presentable, with a real drive for achievement.
