Role Overview
You will be the primary link between the company and its borrowing clients, responsible for bringing in new loan business while safeguarding the quality of the existing portfolio. On a typical day, you will meet prospective borrowers, review their financial standing, structure loan terms, and stay on top of repayment schedules so that disbursement and collection targets are consistently met. Your ability to build trust with clients directly influences both revenue growth and the company's reputation for reliable, customer-focused lending.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and attract new loan clients through networking, referrals, and direct outreach, while actively nurturing relationships with existing customers to encourage repeat business.
- Evaluate loan applications by reviewing financial documents, assessing creditworthiness, and verifying the information provided before recommending approval.
- Structure and present loan terms clearly, negotiating conditions that are fair to the client while protecting the company's interests.
- Monitor all accounts in your portfolio to ensure timely repayment, proactively flagging potential defaults and initiating early intervention.
- Contact delinquent borrowers, understand their circumstances, and negotiate workable repayment plans that reduce default risk without damaging the relationship.
- Consistently meet individual disbursement and collection targets, keeping accurate records of every interaction, payment promise, and recovery action.
- Deliver prompt, courteous, and professional service to clients at every touchpoint, resolving complaints and answering questions about loan products, terms, and payment processes.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure smooth processing of loans, from documentation to payout, and escalate complex cases when needed.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, accounting, economics, or a related field.
- At least 2 years of hands-on experience as a loan officer, collection officer, or relationship officer within a bank, microfinance institution, or similar financial services environment.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to explain financial terms clearly and interact confidently with clients from varied backgrounds.
- Excellent customer service orientation, demonstrating patience, empathy, and professionalism even in difficult collection conversations.
- Solid negotiation skills, capable of reaching mutually acceptable repayment agreements while maintaining company profitability and compliance.
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and handle pressure from targets without compromising service quality.
- Basic proficiency with spreadsheets and loan management systems for tracking client accounts and payment histories.
