Job Description

Role Overview

This position centers on taking ownership of the bank’s most significant corporate relationships, with a focus on expanding the value derived from each account through deeper engagement, tailored financial solutions, and proactive risk management. Day to day, you will balance the demands of nurturing existing clients, pursuing new business opportunities, and staying closely attuned to the strategic and operational realities of the organisations you serve. Success in this role directly influences the bank’s profitability by securing low-cost deposits, high-quality lending opportunities, and steady streams of non-funded income.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain long-term, senior-level relationships with a portfolio of large corporate clients, understanding their evolving needs and positioning the bank as a trusted financial partner.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities to expand the wallet share of existing relationships, including cross-selling products, bundling services, and proposing innovative solutions that align with client objectives.
  • Prospect, acquire, and onboard new corporate clients by developing a strong pipeline, preparing tailored pitches, and leading negotiations to secure mutually beneficial agreements.
  • Develop comprehensive account plans that quantify expected revenue, map key decision-makers, and outline clear strategies for achieving growth targets with each client.
  • Assess and respond to client risk profiles by staying alert to market shifts, financial distress signals, and operational changes, then recommending appropriate mitigation measures to protect both the bank and the customer.
  • Monitor industry trends, government projects, and funding flows to identify collection business and other opportunities from cash-rich corporates and institutional entities.
  • Coordinate with internal product specialists, credit teams, and operational units to deliver seamless service and ensure that client requests are handled promptly and accurately.
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for service delivery issues, maintaining high satisfaction levels and ensuring the bank consistently meets or exceeds client expectations.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Economics, Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline from a recognised university.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in a relationship management role, specifically handling large or complex corporate clients within a banking environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of banking products and services, including both current offerings and products in development, with the ability to match these to client needs.
  • Demonstrated experience in trade finance operations, corporate lending, and dealing with state-owned institutions or similar large-scale borrowers.
  • Familiarity with corporate mortgage products, project management, and the evaluation of associated industry risks.
  • Strong analytical skills with the capacity to interpret complex financial data, business models, and market conditions.
  • Excellent presentation and negotiation skills, particularly in pitching proposals, responding to requests for proposals, and influencing senior decision-makers.
