Role Overview
This position is central to how the hospital maintains and improves patient care standards. As the Quality Improvement Officer, you will work alongside the Risk and Quality Improvement Manager to turn quality strategies into everyday practice, helping clinical and administrative teams identify gaps, implement solutions, and monitor results. Your work will directly shape patient safety, operational efficiency, and the hospital’s ability to meet national and international accreditation requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate the rollout of the hospital-wide quality improvement programme, providing clear guidance to department heads and frontline teams on how to apply quality principles in their daily workflows.
- Develop and update quality-related standards, policies, and procedures, ensuring they align with current best practices and are practical for staff to follow.
- Design and implement monitoring frameworks, audit tools, and evaluation systems that track quality performance across clinical and non-clinical departments.
- Lead data collection, validation, and analysis efforts, then translate findings into actionable recommendations for department leaders and quality teams.
- Facilitate internal and external benchmarking exercises, comparing hospital performance against established national and international quality metrics.
- Provide coaching, mentoring, and structured training sessions to build quality improvement capability among staff at all levels.
- Support regulatory and accreditation processes, including JCI, AMUA, ISO, and KAIZEN initiatives, while acting as the JCI Survey Coordinator.
- Identify and address risks within assigned departments by promoting a proactive risk management culture and participating in hospital-wide risk activities.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or a related healthcare field.
- A basic certification in healthcare quality (or an equivalent recognised qualification).
- At least three years of relevant experience in a hospital setting, with direct exposure to clinical practice, quality improvement, or both.
- A valid and current practising licence from the relevant regulatory body.
- Strong computer literacy, including proficiency with data analysis tools, spreadsheets, and quality management software.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams, facilitate change, and communicate quality concepts clearly to diverse audiences.
