Job Title: Quality Control Intern

Job Role

We are seeking a Quality Control Intern to join our manufacturing team in Kwale. The intern will support quality assurance activities by conducting routine sampling and testing, maintaining records, and ensuring products meet established quality and safety standards. This role is ideal for a detail‑oriented graduate or diploma holder who wants hands‑on experience in quality control and food safety.

Duties and Responsibilities

Sampling and Testing

  • Conduct routine sampling and testing of raw materials, in‑process products, and finished goods in line with established procedures.

  • Perform basic laboratory analyses (e.g., moisture content, pH, temperature checks, or other relevant tests) and accurately record results.

Process and Compliance Monitoring

  • Assist in verifying that production processes adhere to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and quality specifications.

  • Monitor critical control points (CCPs) and report any deviations or non‑conformities promptly.

Quality Issue Management

  • Support investigation of quality issues, including root cause analysis and documentation of findings.

  • Assist in implementing corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) and follow up on their effectiveness.

Documentation and Records

  • Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date quality records, logs, and reports (both manual and digital).

  • Support internal audits and inspections by preparing documentation and participating in audit activities.

Safety, Hygiene, and Standards

  • Ensure compliance with food safety standards, hygiene protocols, and occupational health & safety regulations.

  • Assist in calibration and basic maintenance of laboratory and quality testing equipment.

  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety of the laboratory and quality control workspaces.

Teamwork and Improvement

  • Work closely with production teams to promote quality awareness and adherence to best practices.

  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing product quality and process efficiency.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Degree or Diploma in Food Science and Technology, Analytical Chemistry, or a related field.

  • Basic understanding of quality control principles and laboratory practices.

  • Knowledge of food safety standards (e.g., HACCP, ISO standards) is an added advantage.

  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Google Workspace.

  • Strong attention to detail and good analytical skills.

  • Good communication and report‑writing skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
