Job Description

Role Overview

This position provides engineering leadership within a beverage manufacturing plant, taking ownership of maintenance, utilities, plant reliability, and capital improvement projects. You will be responsible for keeping high-speed production lines running safely and efficiently, minimising downtime, and building a high-performing engineering team that supports both production targets and long-term operational goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance schedules for all production and utility equipment, ensuring minimal disruption to manufacturing operations.
  • Lead reliability improvement efforts by analysing equipment failures, conducting root cause investigations, and implementing corrective actions that improve machine uptime and performance metrics.
  • Manage all plant utility systems, including boilers, air compressors, chillers, steam systems, water treatment, power distribution, and wastewater treatment, ensuring uninterrupted supply and regulatory compliance.
  • Oversee spare parts inventory, set appropriate stock levels, and coordinate with procurement to maintain availability of critical engineering components without overcapitalising.
  • Prepare and manage the engineering and maintenance budget, providing clear technical and financial justification for all maintenance spending and capital expenditure proposals.
  • Plan and implement engineering projects, including equipment installation, modification, commissioning, and plant expansions, working with contractors and suppliers to deliver on time and within budget.
  • Promote a strong safety and food safety culture, ensuring all engineering activities comply with occupational health, environmental, GMP, and quality standards.
  • Drive continuous improvement across the plant using Lean, TPM, 5S, and OEE methodologies, while coaching and developing the engineering team through structured training and performance management.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering, or an equivalent engineering discipline from a recognised institution. Professional engineering registration is an advantage.
  • 7–10 years of engineering experience within an FMCG manufacturing environment, with at least 5 years specifically in beverage manufacturing.
  • Hands-on experience managing high-speed beverage production lines, including knowledge of bottling, filling, packaging, and conveyance equipment.
  • Strong expertise in preventive, predictive, and reliability-centred maintenance, plus a solid understanding of MTBF, MTTR, RCA, and OEE methodologies.
  • Experience managing plant utilities, including boilers, air compressors, chillers, steam systems, water treatment, and wastewater treatment facilities.
  • Proficiency with SAP maintenance modules and the ability to maintain accurate engineering records, equipment histories, and maintenance documentation.
  • Ability to interpret mechanical drawings and electrical schematics, with strong troubleshooting skills across both mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, TPM, and 5S, with a proven ability to lead continuous improvement initiatives in a production environment.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, capable of managing multiple priorities under pressure and developing engineering talent through coaching and structured training.
