Job Description

Role Overview

This position ensures that the organisation's quality, health, safety, and environmental management systems are not only compliant with company, national, and international standards but also continuously improved through regular audits and hands-on coaching. Day‑to‑day work involves monitoring site activities to prevent environmental harm, identifying training gaps, leading toolbox talks, and maintaining a secure, healthy work environment—directly reducing risks and helping the business meet statutory and client expectations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive the implementation of integrated QHSE management systems, aligning them with corporate policies and external standards.
  • Schedule and perform internal audits to catch non‑conformances early, track corrective actions, and uncover improvement opportunities.
  • Monitor workplace processes to minimise environmental pollution and ensure all operations comply with relevant environmental legislation.
  • Facilitate QHSE training programmes—from needs assessment to delivery—tailored to employees and contractors.
  • Conduct periodic toolbox talks focusing on current safety concerns, incident trends, and safe work practices.
  • Report all incidents and injuries promptly, ensuring full statutory compliance and using findings to prevent recurrence.
  • Establish and maintain emergency response procedures; run drills and ensure every person on site knows evacuation plans, assembly points, and roles.
  • Lead the Health, Safety and Environment Committee, keeping it active, compliant with group rules and local law, and ensuring members receive appropriate training.
  • Verify that personal protective equipment is stocked, in good condition, suitable for each task, and accessible to all employees.
  • Review service‑provider contracts to confirm that HSE requirements are fully addressed before signing.
  • Induct all new hires and site contractors on the company’s HSE policies and regulations before they begin work.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in a science‑related field.
  • Experience: At least 3 years of proven experience in a QHSE role, ideally within a similar operational environment.
  • Management Systems Knowledge: Working knowledge of ISO 9001 (QMS), ISO 14001 (EMS), and OHSAS 18001 (or ISO 45001) standards.
  • Core Skills: Strong communication and customer‑service orientation; computer literacy; analytical thinking; and excellent organisational abilities.
