Role Overview
This position runs the day-to-day operations of a seed production facility, from processing raw seed through to packaging and final dispatch. You will coordinate teams, materials, and transport providers to hit quality and turnaround targets while keeping safety and inventory control at the forefront. Every decision you make directly affects the reliability of the supply chain and the integrity of the product reaching customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct seed processing, packaging, and logistics workflows to consistently meet volume and quality goals.
- Allocate and oversee the use of labour, packaging supplies, chemicals, labels, and other inputs to minimise waste and cost.
- Supervise processing operations to maintain product quality, throughput, and adherence to scheduled turnaround times.
- Ensure all packing activity complies with internal quality standards and regulatory labelling requirements.
- Coordinate both domestic and imported seed shipments, managing timely dispatch, accurate paperwork, and clearance processes.
- Monitor stock movement across the warehouse and processing lines, enforcing first-in, first-out (FIFO) principles.
- Work with transport vendors to secure cost-effective, on-time deliveries and track key metrics like transit times and freight costs.
- Lead the factory team in upholding occupational health, safety, and environmental (OHSE) rules, and build a workforce capable of sustained high performance.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, or a closely related field.
- Proven people leadership and team management skills in an industrial or agricultural setting.
- Solid understanding of seed processing methods, warehousing practices, and end-to-end supply chain operations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving ability, especially around inventory accuracy and logistics coordination.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills to liaise across departments and with external partners.
- High attention to detail, with a commitment to product quality and compliance standards.
- Comfortable working under pressure and meeting tight operational deadlines without compromising safety.
- Computer literate, especially in Microsoft Office applications; professional qualifications in Supply Chain or Operations Management are a plus.
