Role Overview
This position places you at the heart of Solar Panda Kenya’s financial operations, where you will take ownership of everything from daily accounting and treasury to long-term strategic planning. You will act as a trusted advisor to the leadership team, translating financial data into actionable insights that support expansion, pricing, and investment decisions. Reporting to the Group CFO, you will also be responsible for safeguarding the company’s financial health through rigorous controls, compliance, and risk management.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the preparation of monthly and annual financial statements, driving a disciplined month-end and year-end close process in line with IFRS and internal policies.
- Partner with department heads to analyse profitability, pricing structures, and operational efficiency, providing financial models and insights that inform key strategic decisions.
- Own the annual budgeting cycle and periodic forecasting, investigating variances and working with stakeholders to keep financial plans accurate and actionable.
- Manage liquidity, working capital, and rolling cash flow forecasts while overseeing banking relationships, payment processes, and treasury operations.
- Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll accounting, and the general ledger, ensuring accurate records and well-documented balance sheet reconciliations.
- Design and enforce internal controls, segregation of duties, and risk mitigation measures across the finance function, supervising the team in their day-to-day execution.
- Ensure timely filing and payment of all statutory obligations, including VAT, PAYE, corporate income tax, NSSF, SHIF, Housing Levy, and WHT, while serving as the primary liaison with the Kenya Revenue Authority.
- Coordinate external and internal audits, prepare supporting documentation, and implement audit recommendations to strengthen financial governance.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Commerce, or a related field; a CPA(K) or ACCA qualification is mandatory. A Master’s degree in MBA or a finance-related discipline is an added advantage.
- 7–10 years of progressive finance and accounting experience, including at least 5 years in a finance management or senior leadership capacity.
- Hands-on experience in budgeting, forecasting, audit management, treasury operations, and leading multi-functional teams.
- Prior exposure to renewable energy, PAYGo financing, fintech, telecoms, FMCG, or microfinance is a plus.
- Deep working knowledge of IFRS, Kenyan tax regulations, financial planning and analysis, treasury, internal controls, and compliance management.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and experience with ERP systems such as NetSuite, SAP, Dynamics, Oracle, or similar platforms.
- Demonstrated leadership with high integrity, strong analytical thinking, excellent communication, and problem-solving abilities.
