Role Overview
Based on site in Athi River, the Press Brake Machine Operator sets up and runs CNC or hydraulic equipment to form sheet metal components to drawing specifications. Accurate setup and in-process checks help the fabrication team maintain reliable part quality, limit rework and keep production moving safely.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate press brakes for production jobs, choosing punches and dies suited to the material, thickness, bend radius and part shape.
- Configure bend sequence, back gauge position, stroke depth and other machine settings to meet job requirements.
- Read engineering drawings, flat patterns and bend instructions; check dimensions and material orientation before production begins.
- Measure formed parts during production, checking bend angles, flange dimensions and surface condition against specifications.
- Adjust settings to address issues such as springback, inconsistent angles, marking or distortion, and alert supervisors to recurring problems.
- Check machine condition and tooling before use, carry out basic preventative maintenance, and report faults or worn tooling.
- Coordinate with fabrication colleagues and supervisors to support production targets and scheduled deliveries.
- Follow workshop safety procedures, use required protective equipment, handle sheet metal safely, and keep the work area and tooling orderly.
Requirements & Qualifications
- At least two years of hands-on experience setting up and operating CNC or hydraulic press brake machinery.
- Practical background in sheet metal bending, metal fabrication or industrial manufacturing.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, flat patterns, bend specifications and tooling information.
