Job Description

Role Overview

This position sits within the People & Culture team and provides the administrative backbone that keeps HR operations running smoothly day to day. You will handle everything from coordinating interviews and preparing new-hire paperwork to maintaining employee records, feeding payroll data, and supporting engagement and performance activities. Because accurate HR administration and responsive staff support directly affect compliance, retention, and how employees experience the organisation, this role is central to the team's ability to deliver reliable people services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate interview scheduling and candidate communication, and prepare onboarding materials, contracts, and other employment documentation for new hires.
  • Maintain up-to-date employee records and HR databases, ensuring files are properly organised and that record-keeping meets compliance and audit requirements.
  • Compile and verify staff data for payroll processing, checking new hires, changes, and deductions before passing information to the payroll team.
  • Assist with the delivery of learning and development programmes, performance management cycles, and employee engagement initiatives.
  • Provide administrative support for disciplinary processes, employee relations matters, and staff separation procedures, including documentation and meeting coordination.
  • Handle day-to-day staff inquiries about HR policies, procedures, and entitlements, escalating more complex issues as needed.
  • Prepare routine HR reports and maintain trackers or metrics that give management visibility into people data.
  • Carry out any other duties assigned by supervisors or outlined in the detailed job description.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management or a closely related field.
  • At least three years of experience as an HR generalist in a medium-sized or large organisation is mandatory.
  • Progress towards CHRP certification is an added advantage.
  • Experience working in a private university setting is beneficial.
  • Solid understanding of labour laws and contemporary HR practices.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with staff at all levels.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications and HR information systems.
