Role Overview
This role is responsible for the accurate and hygienic packaging of poultry products to meet dispatch timelines and quality standards. Each day involves weighing, labeling, and inspecting product packages while operating machinery safely and maintaining detailed records. This position directly supports the company’s commitment to food safety and efficient supply chain operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Weigh and portion poultry products to defined specifications, checking that each package meets the correct weight and quantity.
- Apply accurate labels with product details, dates, and batch numbers, verifying them against order documentation.
- Inspect packaging seals and materials for defects or damage, removing any non‑conforming items before shipment.
- Operate packaging equipment (such as sealers, vacuum machines, and conveyors) following standard operating procedures and safety guidelines.
- Monitor and record levels of packaging materials (boxes, film, labels), alerting supervisors when stocks need replenishing.
- Maintain a clean, organized workstation and adhere to all hygiene and sanitation protocols, including handwashing and surface disinfection.
- Assist production line teams during peak periods or when additional support is required, performing simple product handling tasks.
- Complete daily packaging logs and quality check sheets, ensuring all documentation is legible and signed off.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Minimum KCSE Certificate (Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education) or equivalent academic qualification.
- A valid Food Handling Certificate (or willingness to obtain one before starting).
- Previous experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred; direct packaging experience is an advantage.
- Basic computer literacy for data entry and label printing systems.
- Solid understanding of food safety principles and personal hygiene standards.
- Physically fit and able to stand for extended periods, lift moderate weights (up to 15–20 kg), and perform repetitive tasks.
- Strong attention to detail, particularly when weighing, labeling, and inspecting products.
- Effective verbal communication skills to coordinate with team members and supervisors.
- Demonstrated reliability, punctuality, and the ability to manage time in a fast‑paced production environment.
