Currently the hospital management is undertaking phase two of the hospital construction to provide room for the needy services like - new theatre, Dialysis Unit, HDU/ICU, pediatric ward, theatre and surgical ward. Job Description

Role Overview

You will be a frontline caregiver for patients undergoing cancer treatment, handling everything from initial assessment through ongoing monitoring and supportive care. Your daily work directly influences treatment outcomes and helps patients navigate the physical and emotional challenges of their diagnosis. This role sits at the center of a multidisciplinary team, requiring both clinical precision and compassionate communication.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive nursing assessments to develop, update, and evaluate individualized care plans tailored to each patient's cancer type and treatment stage.
  • Administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and other prescribed oncology medications using strict dosage calculations and safe handling protocols.
  • Closely observe patients during and after infusions, recognizing early signs of toxicity, hypersensitivity, or adverse reactions and responding appropriately.
  • Provide practical education to patients and their families about expected side effects, when to seek urgent care, and how to manage symptoms like nausea, fatigue, or infection risk at home.
  • Document all assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately in the medical record within established timelines.
  • Coordinate with oncologists, pharmacists, social workers, and support staff to ensure seamless continuity of care across inpatient or outpatient oncology units.
  • Enforce infection prevention measures, safe handling of hazardous drugs, and medication reconciliation procedures in every aspect of the treatment workflow.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Active nursing registration with a valid, current practicing license in the relevant jurisdiction.
  • Completion of a recognized nursing diploma or degree, with a Higher Diploma in Oncology Nursing or equivalent specialized training considered a strong asset.
  • At least two years of hands-on experience in an oncology, hematology-oncology, or dedicated cancer care unit.
  • Demonstrated ability to think critically under pressure, prioritize care during peak patient loads, and respond decisively to acute clinical changes.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for explaining complex treatment plans to patients from diverse backgrounds and supporting anxious family members.
  • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), with both credentials current and verified.
