Role Overview
As a Network Engineer, you will design, implement, and maintain the enterprise network infrastructure that underpins daily operations and long-term growth. Day to day, you will configure routers and switches, manage VPNs and VLANs, deploy SD-WAN solutions, and monitor network health to ensure high availability and security. Your work directly supports business continuity, reduces downtime, and enables seamless communication across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Configure and manage routing protocols (OSPF, BGP) and switching technologies, including VLANs, STP, and link aggregation.
- Deploy and maintain site-to-site and remote-access VPNs, ensuring encrypted and reliable connectivity.
- Administer firewall policies, NAT rules, and access control lists to enforce security best practices.
- Implement and troubleshoot SD-WAN solutions to optimise bandwidth and application performance.
- Monitor network devices and traffic using tools like SolarWinds, PRTG, or Wireshark to proactively identify and resolve issues.
- Document network topologies, configurations, and change procedures for operational reference and audit readiness.
- Collaborate with IT teams to support branch office expansions, hardware refresh cycles, and capacity planning.
- Lead or contribute to network upgrades, including firmware updates, hardware replacements, and technology migrations.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a closely related discipline.
- CCNA certification is mandatory; CCNP certification is required for senior or lead-level roles.
- Minimum three years of hands-on experience in enterprise networking environments.
- Deep practical knowledge of routing (static and dynamic), switching, VLANs, VPN technologies (IPsec, SSL), and firewall platforms (e.g., Cisco ASA, Fortinet, pfSense).
- Proven experience with SD-WAN deployment and management.
- Strong ability to use network monitoring tools and perform systematic troubleshooting using ping, traceroute, packet captures, and log analysis.
- Excellent documentation skills and the ability to produce clear network diagrams and procedural guides.
- Effective communication skills for collaborating with cross-functional teams and documenting technical solutions.
