Role Overview
As a software engineer at M-KOPA, you’ll develop and operate C#/.NET microservices that communicate through event-driven systems. You’ll contribute throughout the software lifecycle—from design and implementation to monitoring live services and, when needed, retiring them—helping build technology that supports digital and financial inclusion across Africa.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain microservices using C# and .NET.
- Implement event-based communication using Azure Service Bus or comparable messaging platforms.
- Take ownership of services and their supporting infrastructure from initial development through production operation and decommissioning.
- Create and maintain automated tests across development and production environments.
- Instrument services and use monitoring and observability tools to understand performance and troubleshoot issues.
- Build and deploy containerised applications using Docker and Kubernetes.
- Apply DevOps and infrastructure-as-code practices to support reliable, continuous delivery.
- Work collaboratively with engineers, contribute to technical decisions, and use AI-assisted coding tools as part of the development workflow.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Strong practical experience developing software with C# and .NET.
- Experience building event-driven systems with Azure Service Bus, Kafka, RabbitMQ, or a similar messaging technology.
- Hands-on experience with microservices architecture.
- Experience using Azure or another major cloud platform such as AWS or GCP.
- Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience with observability tools such as Prometheus and Grafana.
- Knowledge of automated testing, deployment, and continuous delivery practices.
- A DevOps mindset and willingness to own software and infrastructure throughout their lifecycle.
- Experience with AI coding tools; Claude Code or a similar tool is relevant.
