Job Description

Role Overview

This position ensures that Church facilities are consistently ready and well-maintained for worship, learning, and sacred ordinance work. Day to day, the Facilities Manager oversees a team of technicians, manages work orders and inspections, and coordinates with mission presidents and other stakeholders to align facility operations with the Church’s spiritual mission. The role matters because it directly supports the environment where members gather, pray, teach, and make covenants—making reliable facility stewardship a foundational part of the Church’s work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise a team of technicians, including scheduling, assigning work orders, conducting annual performance reviews, approving expenses, and handling onboarding and time-off requests.
  • Implement strategic objectives set by leadership and ensure the team’s daily efforts align with broader organisational goals.
  • Perform regular property inspection audits to confirm all work meets specifications and complies with Church standards and regulations.
  • Take ownership of key performance indicators (timeliness, cost, quality, and self-performance) and assist the FM group in completing emergency work orders when needed.
  • Identify and recommend vendors, manage vendor relationships, and coordinate their work; propose vendor changes when recurring services consistently fall short of expectations.
  • Oversee the budget in partnership with the Operations Manager, Facility Services Coordinator, and Vendor Management to ensure tasks are completed efficiently.
  • Coordinate directly with mission presidents to address missionary facility needs, negotiate apartment leases and renewals, and assign work to vendors as required.
  • Attend weekly FM group meetings to review work orders, prioritise projects, and schedule tasks; also organise training for the maintenance team and support regional and headquarters training initiatives.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Must be worthy to hold a current temple recommend.
  • Requires a bachelor’s or associate degree in construction management, engineering, or architecture (or local equivalent) with at least three to five years of relevant construction field experience (e.g., construction management), OR a minimum of three years of strong building construction background as a firm owner, project manager, or superintendent.
  • Proven leadership, business management, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to communicate with sensitivity and respect toward ecclesiastical leaders, and effectively with real estate representatives, architects, engineers, contractors, city building officials, governmental agencies, neighborhood associations, and zoning review boards.
  • Basic estimating, scheduling, and analytical work skills.
  • Strong public relations skills and demonstrated ability to manage people and multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Capable of communicating properly with colleagues, priesthood leaders, and managers.
