About the Role

We are seeking a highly disciplined, clinically astute Medical Officer to join our professional healthcare team at Focus Clinical and Diagnostics Center. Your primary focus will be to deliver comprehensive clinical care, managing patients from initial admission and diagnostic evaluation through to active treatment, emergency surgical intervention, and progressive rehabilitation. This position bridges rapid-response clinical execution with compassionate, patient-centered consultation; you will run busy outpatient clinics, manage first-on-call emergency responses, and collaborate closely with specialized medical professionals to ensure absolute safety and treatment accuracy. The role calls for a resilient, decisive medical professional who possesses sharp clinical judgment and thrives in a fast-paced, rotating-schedule hospital environment.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Assessment & Treatment Delivery

  • Undertake critical first-on-call duties, executing meticulous patient clerking, history taking, physical examinations, and initial diagnostic mappings.
  • Formulate, implement, and monitor comprehensive patient management plans, documenting daily clinical progress and specialist recommendations with absolute accuracy.
  • Conduct high-volume outpatient clinics, delivering reliable primary care, chronic disease management, and specialized preventative screenings.
  • Collaborate fluidly with multi-disciplinary medical teams, consulting specialists, nurses, and laboratory scientists to coordinate cohesive patient care.

Surgical Interventions & Emergency Care

  • Assist in planned theatre procedures, maintaining sterile surgical fields and executing standard pre-operative and post-operative evaluations.
  • Perform emergency surgeries and life-saving medical interventions independently when immediate, high-pressure clinical situations arise.
  • Maintain current training standards in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) to manage acute cardiac or respiratory crises safely.
  • Oversee patient stabilization protocols during critical transitions between diagnostic bays, emergency units, and ward transfers.

Healthcare Administration & Compliance

  • Conduct detailed medical evaluations, compile comprehensive medical legal reports, and prepare accurate patient discharge summaries.
  • Ensure systematic, highly accurate clinical data collection to feed into official hospital databases and national healthcare reporting systems.
  • Participate in the stewardship of essential pharmaceutical inventories, inspecting the operational readiness of sensitive medical instruments and diagnostic equipment.
  • Provide clear, empathetic health education to patients and family members regarding medication compliance, nutritional choices, and home-care protocols.
  • Support localized community health outreach drives and preventative wellness initiatives to raise regional public health standards.

Qualifications & Requirements

Minimum Entry Criteria

  • Academic Foundation: Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) degree from a medical training institution recognized by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC).
  • Professional Licensing: Full registration certificate and a valid, current practicing license issued by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC).
  • Field Longevity: Minimum of 2 years of progressive, active post-internship clinical experience operating within a busy hospital, diagnostic center, or clinical facility.
  • Liability Safeguards: Must possess a valid, up-to-date personal professional indemnity insurance cover.
  • Technical & Digital Literacy: High proficiency in operating modern computer applications, electronic medical record (EMR) systems, and medical reporting platforms.

Core Competencies

  • Analytical Clinical Judgment: Superior diagnostic capability, critical thinking skills, and the capacity to make sound medical choices under tight time constraints.
  • Interpersonal Agility: Outstanding communication skills to connect with diverse patients, comfort anxious families, and lead clinical handovers clearly.
  • Resilience under Pressure: High emotional stamina and physical endurance to manage demanding, rotating-schedule clinical shifts and sudden emergency surges calmly.

Benefits & Environment

  • Comprehensive Clinical Exposure: Broaden your medical portfolio by treating a diverse case mix, performing life-saving emergency surgeries, and collaborating with top-tier specialists.
  • State-of-the-Art Resources: Practice within a highly modern diagnostic center equipped with advanced imaging systems, automated laboratories, and streamlined clinical tech.
  • Professional Development Support: Cultivate advanced clinical pathways with access to structured continuous medical education (CME) units and clinical leadership tracks.
