Role Overview
This is a hands-on marketing position with a travel and tour company based along University Way in Nairobi. You will split your time between meeting prospective clients face-to-face and shaping the brand's presence on social media. Your daily focus is to generate interest in safari packages, corporate travel arrangements, and holiday itineraries, then guide those conversations through to confirmed bookings. The work matters because every lead you capture or post you publish directly supports the company's revenue targets and keeps the agency visible in a competitive tourism market.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and run field marketing initiatives across Nairobi, targeting individual travellers, corporate offices, and institutional groups that need travel services.
- Visit businesses and partner organisations in person to present tailored safari and tour packages, answer questions, and leave behind compelling material that sparks follow-up conversations.
- Maintain a structured follow-up pipeline using calls, messages, and scheduled meetings to convert initial interest into paid trips.
- Manage the company's social media channels including Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, and WhatsApp with a consistent posting calendar.
- Create original content for campaigns, such as short video reels, client testimonials, promotional graphics, and captions that speak directly to travellers' aspirations.
- Monitor and respond to online enquiries, comments, and direct messages quickly to keep potential customers engaged and move them toward booking.
- Track what competitors and other tour operators are offering, and suggest seasonal promotions or package tweaks that give the company an edge.
- Log daily lead activity, conversion data, and social media performance, then share clear reports that show what is working and what needs adjustment.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in marketing, digital marketing, business administration, communications, tourism, or hospitality.
- At least two years of practical experience in field sales, outbound marketing, or managing social media accounts for a brand.
- Proven ability to turn cold enquiries into confirmed sales, with a confident approach to face-to-face pitching and phone follow-ups.
- Comfortable using social media scheduling tools, Canva or similar design software, and basic video editing applications for short-form content.
- Strong written and spoken communication skills, including the ability to write catchy promotional copy in English and Swahili when needed.
- Self-driven and resilient, with the energy to handle daily fieldwork, meet commission-based targets, and adapt to changing market conditions.
- Previous experience in a travel agency, tour operator, hotel, or tourism-related company is an advantage, but strong marketers from other industries are also encouraged to apply.
