Role Overview
This position places you at the centre of the organisation’s automation strategy, where you will shape how high-volume operational work is identified, analysed and handed over to software robots. In practice, you lead a team of RPA specialists across the full delivery lifecycle — from initial process discovery to design, deployment and post-production support — while setting the governance standards that keep automated services safe and controlled. Success in this role translates directly into measurable efficiency gains for critical business operations in a regulated, multi-country environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain a pipeline of automation opportunities by working closely with process owners, operations teams and subject-matter experts to prioritise workflows with strong return on investment and low complexity.
- Oversee the full lifecycle of automation programmes, including feasibility analysis, solution architecture, bot development, acceptance testing and go-live support.
- Manage and coach a team of RPA developers and analysts, balancing multiple workstreams in an agile environment and removing delivery blockers as they arise.
- Establish and enforce governance frameworks, technical standards and documentation controls so every automation is auditable, compliant and resilient to change.
- Track production bot performance and business-impact metrics, using performance data to improve existing automations and decide when to scale initiatives further.
- Act as the bridge between technical delivery and senior stakeholders, translating automation outcomes into clear business language and recommending where future investment should be directed.
- Collaborate with compliance, risk and security teams to ensure bot operations meet regulatory requirements across the different countries in which the business operates.
- Manage relationships with RPA vendors and internal infrastructure teams, ensuring platform licences, tooling updates and system integrations are fit for purpose and up to date.
Requirements & Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering or a related discipline from a recognised institution.
- At least seven years of practical experience in RPA development, software engineering or a closely related role, with a minimum of three to five years leading automation teams or programme delivery.
- Professional certifications such as UiPath RPA Developer Advanced, Automation Anywhere Certified Advanced RPA Professional, or Blue Prism Developer are strongly preferred.
- Hands-on delivery experience with automations supporting 500,000 or more transactions, or an equivalent high-volume operational footprint, including an understanding of scalability and stability requirements.
- Proven career exposure to insurance, financial services or technology-driven sectors, ideally applied through implemented RPA projects.
- Thorough experience working in agile teams — running sprints, product backlogs and iterative releases — for automation-related initiatives.
- Working knowledge of how to operate within regulatory constraints, data protection expectations and internal audit controls, particularly in a multi-country legal and compliance environment.
