RPA Developer

Role Overview

This position centers on taking manual, rule-based business processes and turning them into dependable software robots that operate across insurance and financial-services workflows. You will handle the full automation lifecycle—from analysing a process for suitability, through building and testing the bot, to deploying it and monitoring its performance in production. Your work directly supports operational transformation by reducing manual effort, improving accuracy, and ensuring that every automated process meets the organisation’s governance and compliance standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with business analysts and process owners to identify automation opportunities and translate workflow requirements into technical design documents.
• Develop, configure, and test RPA bots using enterprise platforms such as UiPath, Automation Anywhere, or Blue Prism, following established coding standards and reusable component libraries.
• Conduct thorough unit testing and support user acceptance testing (UAT), troubleshooting defects and refining bot logic to handle exceptions and edge cases reliably.
• Deploy automation solutions to production environments, ensuring proper error handling, logging, and alerting mechanisms are in place for operational visibility.
• Maintain and enhance existing automations, monitoring their performance against transaction volumes and key operational metrics, and applying fixes or optimisations as needed.
• Document technical solutions, process flows, and operational runbooks to support handover, audit readiness, and regulatory review.
• Work within agile delivery squads, participating in sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives while coordinating with infrastructure, security, and compliance teams.
• Ensure all automation activity aligns with internal controls and regulatory requirements, particularly in a multi-country operating environment with data-protection obligations.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related discipline from a recognised institution.
• At least 2 years of hands-on experience in RPA development, software engineering, or a closely related role, with demonstrated delivery of production-grade automation.
• Strong practical knowledge of at least one major RPA platform—UiPath, Automation Anywhere, or Blue Prism—including orchestrator/control-room configuration and structured exception handling.
• Professional certification such as UiPath RPA Developer Advanced, Automation Anywhere Certified Advanced RPA Professional, or Blue Prism Developer is highly desirable.
• Experience in the insurance, financial services, or broader technology-driven sector, ideally with bots supporting high-volume processes (500K+ transactions or equivalent operational impact).
• Familiarity with agile delivery methods and a proven ability to collaborate within cross-functional teams on automation projects.
• Understanding of compliance considerations in a regulated, multi-country context, including audit trails, segregation of duties, and data security requirements in automation design.
• Solid problem-solving mindset, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
