Role Overview
You will serve as the institute's go-to technical expert for its Dynamics 365 Business Central platform, balancing day-to-day system administration with long-term development initiatives. In this role, you will keep the ERP environment stable, secure, and fully documented while leading projects that connect grants management, finance, and business operations. Your work is mission-critical because the institute relies on this system to process data, support decision-making, and maintain funding relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and maintain technical documentation for Business Central applications, including user guides, configuration notes, and hardware specifications that support the ERP infrastructure.
- Take ownership of the institute's Business Central environment—scheduling updates, applying patches, managing system settings, and ensuring configurations stay aligned with organizational needs.
- Design and implement a comprehensive grants management system, using Business Central capabilities and best practice principles to organize the full grant lifecycle from application to reporting.
- Analyze existing business processes, identify inefficiencies, and lead reengineering efforts that integrate financial systems and improve workflows across departments.
- Develop and customize Business Central through AL programming, extensions, and integrations with other enterprise applications, then oversee testing and deployment of those changes.
- Monitor system health, security, and performance; troubleshoot issues, carry out routine maintenance, and translate user requirements into practical ERP improvements.
- Execute regular backups for both data and applications, following recovery procedures to protect the institute from data loss or service interruption.
- Act as a mentor to staff by offering hands-on guidance, sharing best practices, and helping colleagues work effectively within the Business Central environment.
Requirements & Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or an equivalent qualification recognized by a relevant professional body.
- At least four years of demonstrated experience working with Dynamics 365 Business Central, including practical exposure to administration, development, and system enhancements.
- Strong programming skills in AL language and proven ability to build and maintain Business Central extensions and custom integrations.
- Professional certification in a relevant area, such as Microsoft Certified: Dynamics 365 Business Central Functional Consultant Associate, MCSE, MCSA, MCSD, A+, Network+, or comparable credentials from a recognized institution.
- Successful completion of a formal supervisory course lasting a minimum of two weeks, with evidence of leadership or team coordination capability.
- Familiarity with security best practices, backup strategies, and performance monitoring in an ERP context.
- Excellent communication skills for translating technical concepts into clear guidance for non-technical stakeholders and mentoring junior staff.
