Senior Process Automation Engineer

Role Overview

As a senior engineer on the CIC Engineering team, you will take ownership of technology initiatives that shape how the company operates digitally. Reporting to the Head of Digital & Transformation, you will design, build, and deploy automation platforms and full-stack applications that streamline complex workflows, reduce manual effort, and improve service quality across business functions. Your day-to-day work blends hands-on coding, solution architecture, stakeholder collaboration, and mentoring — all aimed at making digitization a practical reality rather than just an aspiration.

Key Responsibilities

• Build responsive, scalable front-end and back-end systems for internal digital tools, using React on the client side and Java Spring Boot or Python on the server side.
• Develop and maintain automation workflows that connect multiple systems, orchestrate processes, and handle exceptions gracefully using RPA and workflow platforms.
• Configure intelligent automation solutions with UiPath and integrate them with existing enterprise applications, databases, and cloud services.
• Design and manage low-code/no-code solutions in Corteza and the Power Platform to help business teams self-serve operational needs without heavy custom code.
• Set up robust deployment pipelines and monitor live services on AWS and OpenShift, ensuring high availability, security, and performance for users across different geographies.
• Work closely with business stakeholders in structured workshops to map existing processes, identify bottlenecks, and define end-to-end flows that translate into automation-ready designs.
• Provide technical guidance to junior engineers, review code for quality and maintainability, and champion engineering best practices within the team.
• Use Agile ceremonies and tools to plan sprints, track delivery, and continuously refine the team’s approach to meeting project milestones.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field; a master’s degree is an advantage but not mandatory.
• Solid professional experience in full-stack software engineering, with demonstrable capability across both interface development and backend services.
• Strong, practical knowledge of React, Java Spring Boot, and Python for building production-grade applications and automation scripts.
• Exposure to Robotic Process Automation tools, particularly UiPath, and an understanding of how RPA fits into broader intelligent automation strategies.
• Familiarity with low-code/no-code platforms such as Corteza or Microsoft Power Platform, including the ability to extend them when necessary.
• Experience working with cloud-native architectures on AWS and deploying applications to OpenShift or similar container orchestration environments.
• A proven record of designing RESTful APIs and microservices in Java, with attention to security, versioning, and performance at scale.
• Working knowledge of MySQL and PostgreSQL for data modelling, query optimisation, and database maintenance within automation solutions.
• An understanding of workflow orchestration concepts and tools such as Temporal, or the ability to quickly apply this technology to business scenarios.
• Confidence in facilitating discussions between technical teams and non-technical stakeholders, translating business pain points into tangible technical solutions.
• Comfort working with Agile delivery frameworks, including Scrum and Kanban, in a collaborative and candid team culture.
