Job Description

Title: Management Accountant

Employment Nature: Full-time

Remuneration: Kshs. 50,000

Role Mandate

We are looking for a highly analytical and leadership-oriented Management Accountant to anchor the financial operations of our dairy and factory facilities. This role is pivotal in bridging the gap between operational data and strategic decision-making. You will be responsible for consolidating financial reports from multiple depots, leading the annual budgeting process, and enforcing rigorous internal controls to safeguard company assets. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of cost structures within the FMCG or manufacturing sector and the ability to mentor a distributed accounting team toward high levels of accountability.

Primary Areas of Responsibility

Financial Stewardship & Strategic Analysis

  • Architect and present accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in alignment with international accounting standards.

  • Consolidate financial data from factory operations and diverse depot locations to provide a holistic view of business health.

  • Partner with executive management to provide actionable insights on pricing strategies, regional expansion, and long-term growth initiatives.

  • Direct the annual budgeting lifecycle and provide rolling forecasts to navigate market shifts and production variables.

Operational Efficiency & Cost Control

  • Execute granular analysis of production costs and monitor product margins for dairy lines (milk, yogurt, etc.) to drive profitability.

  • Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives across the supply chain and factory floor to optimize resource utilization.

  • Manage company liquidity and working capital, ensuring a healthy cash flow balance and timely fulfillment of supplier obligations.

  • Oversee and optimize the utilization of accounting systems (ERP) to enhance reporting accuracy and process efficiency.

Compliance, Governance & Leadership

  • Supervise, coach, and manage the performance of depot accountants and accounts assistants across various business units.

  • Ensure 100% adherence to Kenyan tax regulations, including the timely filing and payment of VAT, PAYE, and corporate tax.

  • Develop and enforce robust internal controls to mitigate risks of fraud, errors, and asset loss.

  • Coordinate internal and external audit cycles, ensuring all documentation is meticulous and findings are resolved promptly.

Professional Requirements

Background & Experience

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

  • Certification: CPA (K) — Fully qualified and in good standing with ICPAK.

  • Tenure: Minimum of 5–8 years of progressive experience in management accounting or finance.

  • Leadership: At least 2–3 years in a supervisory role, managing a team of finance professionals.

  • Industry Context: Direct experience in FMCG, manufacturing, or the dairy industry is considered a significant advantage.

Critical Skill Set

  • Analytical Prowess: Superior ability to interpret complex financial data and translate it into strategic recommendations.

  • Integrity: A steadfast commitment to transparency, ethical financial management, and accountability.

  • System Knowledge: Proficiency in ERP platforms (e.g., Ancker ERP) and advanced financial reporting tools.

  • Interpersonal Skills: Strong communication abilities to liaise effectively with tax authorities, auditors, and cross-functional management.
