Job Description

Role Overview

This position sits at the centre of the Corporate Affairs function, acting as the day-to-day engine behind the department's reporting, stakeholder engagement and communications activity. Working closely with the Head of Corporate Affairs — and in close partnership with Marketing, HR and the wider Group communications team — the role holder turns strategy into published content, mapped stakeholders, executed events and measurable outcomes. It matters because the employer's reputation, brand consistency and internal culture all depend on communications that are planned, coordinated and evaluated rather than improvised.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce the Corporate Affairs reporting cycle under the direction of the Head of Corporate Affairs, including monthly departmental reports and periodic tracking of activity impact developed alongside the Marketing team.
  • Build and maintain stakeholder maps and engagement plans, then monitor how faithfully those plans are executed and report on their effectiveness.
  • Contribute to the creation and rollout of the PR and communications strategy, including drafting the implementation plan and keeping watch on whether it delivers what it set out to.
  • Draft press releases, field incoming media enquiries and monitor news coverage, flagging anything that could affect the corporate brand.
  • Own the internal communications agenda, planning and leading campaigns that support Group initiatives, critical projects and employee engagement programmes, and writing or editing content for channels such as the staff intranet (Yammer), a periodic staff magazine and regular email bulletins.
  • Safeguard message consistency across every medium and every department, applying the correct corporate and branding elements in line with company identity guidelines, and making sure internal activity is visible and published across the business.
  • Provide logistical and branding support for corporate events, conferences and stakeholder forums, coordinating with Marketing and HR so that activities are well planned, well executed and aligned in message.
  • Support CSR initiatives and relationships with regulatory bodies and industry partners, and collaborate with HR on engagement programmes that strengthen retention and turn employees into brand advocates.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • A degree-level qualification, ideally in Media and Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism or Business Administration.
  • Relevant professional qualifications are welcome, with a Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) Diploma seen as an added advantage.
  • Around seven years of relevant experience across communications, public relations, media, digital communication and event planning.
  • Exposure to employee engagement, content creation and digital platforms is a plus, as is a background in writing for varied audiences, managing intranets and supporting organisational change.
  • Prior experience within a corporate, agency or not-for-profit communications team is preferred.
  • Confidence to work with and influence senior management on a daily basis.
  • High-quality written and verbal communication, with expert-level drafting for channels including email, intranet and digital signage.
  • Strong organisational skills and advanced computer literacy in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Digital fluency across social platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and Twitter, plus competence with content management systems and intranet platforms; basic graphic design or video editing is useful.
  • Ability to measure communication impact using surveys and digital analytics tools such as Google Analytics and Hotjar.
  • A genuine interest in, and exposure to, artificial intelligence.
  • Personally, someone who pulls diverse teams together, brings creativity and innovation, pays attention to detail, communicates excellently, works analytically and in an organised way, and operates as a driven self-starter.
