Role Overview
You will be responsible for managing a portfolio of overdue logbook loan accounts, speaking directly with borrowers to understand their financial situation and agree on realistic repayment plans. Your work directly supports the company’s cash flow and reduces default rates, so you will need a firm but fair approach that balances customer relationships with recovery targets. This is a hands-on, target-driven role that suits someone comfortable with daily phone conversations, negotiation, and keeping accurate records of every contact.
Key Responsibilities
- Proactively contact borrowers with overdue logbook loans via phone, email, and text to arrange repayment of outstanding balances.
- Review each account's history and lending terms to assess affordability and propose appropriate payment instalments or settlements.
- Negotiate with customers to secure prompt payments while maintaining a professional and non-aggressive tone.
- Meet monthly collection targets and key performance indicators for recovery rates and average days past due.
- Maintain detailed and compliant records of all communications, payment promises, and follow-up actions in the collections system.
- Escalate accounts to repossession or legal channels when agreements are repeatedly broken, following internal procedures.
- Respond to inbound customer queries regarding outstanding balances, payment methods, and account status.
- Collaborate with team members to share insights on difficult accounts and refine effective collection strategies.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of hands-on experience in debt collection, credit recovery, or loan collections, preferably in a consumer lending environment.
- Solid understanding of logbook loans, including how vehicle-secured lending works, default triggers, and repossession risk.
- Proven ability to chase overdue payments, negotiate repayment terms, and consistently hit recovery targets.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the confidence to handle challenging conversations and remain composed under pressure.
- Basic numeracy and literacy skills for accurately calculating balances, interest, and recording payment arrangements.
- Familiarity with collections software, CRM systems, or spreadsheet tracking is an advantage.
