Job Title: Liquor Shop Attendant

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Liquor Shop Attendant to join their team. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting liquor sales operations, providing exceptional customer service, and ensuring smooth day-to-day running of the liquor section. You will leverage your expertise in beverages to guide customers, drive sales through upselling, and maintain accurate inventory levels.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist customers in selecting liquors, wines, beers, and other beverages, offering informed recommendations based on their preferences.
  • Drive sales by actively upselling premium products and promoting special offers or new arrivals.
  • Operate the point-of-sale (POS) system accurately for all transactions, including cash, card, and contactless payments.
  • Manage stock and inventory by receiving shipments, rotating products, conducting periodic counts, and reporting discrepancies.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and visually appealing shop floor and storage area.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant liquor laws and age verification procedures.
  • Work collaboratively with team members to achieve sales targets and deliver a positive shopping experience.
  • Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and returns professionally and efficiently.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Diploma or Degree in Hospitality, Beverage Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience working in a bar, liquor store, or similar retail liquor environment.
  • Strong knowledge of liquors, wines, beers, and other beverages, including product origins, tasting notes, and pairing suggestions.
  • Proven ability to upsell and cross-sell products effectively while maintaining a customer-first approach.
  • Experience in stock control, inventory management, and product rotation.
  • Proficiency in POS systems and cashier operations, including handling cash and processing refunds.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Flexibility to work shifts, including weekends, public holidays, and sometimes evenings.
