Role Overview
This position owns the growth of the in vitro diagnostics and laboratory portfolio across Kenya, working directly with diagnostic laboratories, hospitals and other healthcare providers to match technical solutions to real testing needs. Day to day it blends field-based selling — prospecting, demonstrations, customer training and pipeline management — with the commercial discipline of forecasting and reporting against monthly, quarterly and annual targets. The role matters because the organisation's diagnostic revenue depends on winning new laboratory accounts and deepening existing ones, and on having someone who can hold a credible technical conversation with scientists while also negotiating at the commercial level.
Key Responsibilities
- Open up new business across diagnostic laboratories, hospitals, research facilities and healthcare institutions by mapping untapped accounts, market segments and product opportunities within the IVD and laboratory sector.
- Own and progress the full sales pipeline, from first contact and qualification through quotation, negotiation and final close, keeping momentum on every live opportunity.
- Deliver technical presentations, instrument and reagent demonstrations and post-sale customer training, translating each laboratory's workflows and testing requirements into the right product recommendation.
- Cultivate lasting relationships with laboratory managers, pathologists, biomedical scientists, procurement officers and other key decision-makers.
- Work alongside Sales and Marketing colleagues to shape IVD sales strategy, and represent the company at customer visits, exhibitions, trade shows and industry conferences.
- Monitor customer needs, competitor moves and emerging laboratory trends, and feed structured market intelligence back to management.
- Consistently achieve agreed monthly, quarterly and annual sales targets while keeping the pipeline actively managed and followed through to closure.
- Maintain accurate records of customer engagements, quotations, opportunities and sales activity, and submit regular sales reports.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Education: Diploma or bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or Medical Laboratory Sciences from a recognised institution.
- Registration: Must be registered with the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board (KMLTTB).
- Experience: Minimum 4–5 years in IVD sales, ideally at Sales Manager or senior sales representative level, with a proven record of growing sales and developing new business in laboratory products.
- Technical selling ability: Confident delivering technical presentations, product demonstrations and business development pitches to scientific and clinical audiences.
- Commercial skills: Strong communication, negotiation, customer relationship management and commercial acumen, with the ability to pursue and close business independently while collaborating closely with internal sales and marketing teams.
