Role Overview
This is a field-based commercial role focused on growing sales of laboratory instruments, reagents, and diagnostic consumables within healthcare institutions. Your days will be split between visiting hospital labs, demonstrating products to technical staff, preparing tenders, and building a trusted advisory relationship with the people who specify and buy these goods. Accurate product knowledge and responsive follow-through matter here, because lab professionals rely on you to help them choose tools that deliver precise results under demanding workloads.
Key Responsibilities
- Map your assigned territory and develop a structured visiting schedule that covers hospitals, clinics, private laboratories, and other healthcare facilities with unmet diagnostic needs.
- Meet with laboratory technologists, pathologists, procurement officers, and hospital administrators to understand their workflows, pain points, and purchasing criteria.
- Deliver hands-on product demonstrations and educational sessions that help lab staff evaluate equipment and consumables with confidence.
- Prepare clear, accurate quotations, proposal documents, and tender submissions that fully align with client specifications and procurement expectations.
- Build a territory sales plan with concrete revenue and volume goals, then work systematically to convert prospects into repeat buyers.
- Track every customer interaction, quote, and deal stage in the CRM, and keep the sales pipeline up to date at all times.
- Partner with the technical and service team to coordinate product delivery, installation, calibration, and user training so the post-sale experience matches the promises made during the pitch.
- Monitor competitor offerings, customer pricing pressures, and wider diagnostic market trends, then share these insights with management to refine sales strategy and product positioning.
Requirements & Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, Pharmacy, Sales/Marketing, or a closely related field. A relevant Diploma can be accepted when supported by substantial field sales experience.
- At least one to three years of experience in sales, preferably within laboratory equipment, medical diagnostics, or healthcare product lines.
- A demonstrated record of selling reagents, diagnostic consumables, or lab instruments to hospitals, clinics, and independent laboratories is a strong advantage.
- Proof of consistent performance against sales targets, with the discipline to manage your own schedule and travel across a broad territory.
- Registration with the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board (KMLTTB) is an added advantage.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools and CRM platforms, plus reliable data discipline for maintaining accurate customer records and forecasts.
- A valid driving licence and the willingness to spend significant time on the road interacting with clients face to face.
