Role Overview
This role is about growing a specialised equipment sales portfolio across Kenya by building deep, trusted relationships with the country’s Asian business community. Day to day, you will be out in the field visiting contractors, developers, and logistics operators, understanding their operational challenges, and presenting Foton and Hyundai construction machinery as practical, cost-effective solutions. You will own the entire B2B sales cycle, from identifying prospects to negotiating contracts and ensuring smooth after-sales support, while reporting on pipeline health and revenue forecasts. Applications must be submitted by 18th September 2026.
Key Responsibilities
- Proactively hunt for new sales opportunities in construction, infrastructure, logistics, and adjacent commercial sectors, building a strong prospect list and converting leads into orders.
- Take full ownership of the sales cycle for heavy equipment: arrange initial meetings, conduct product demonstrations, prepare detailed quotations, negotiate terms, close deals, and follow up after delivery to secure repeat business.
- Strengthen relationships with key accounts, including contractors, developers, government agencies, and other strategic buyers, acting as a trusted advisor on equipment selection and fleet expansion.
- Maintain an up-to-date sales pipeline, produce accurate revenue forecasts, and deliver against agreed monthly, quarterly, and annual targets.
- Carry out regular customer and site visits to observe working conditions, assess equipment needs, and recommend the right Foton or Hyundai model for each application.
- Negotiate pricing, commercial terms, and contracts in a way that protects margins while remaining competitive in the Kenya market.
- Track competitor activity, market pricing, infrastructure trends, and shifting customer demands to spot emerging opportunities and flag risks early.
- Coordinate with internal departments such as technical support, parts, service, and finance to ensure timely machine delivery, high customer satisfaction, and long-term loyalty.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Fluency in Gujarati or Punjabi plus strong working knowledge of an Indian language is mandatory; candidates must be comfortable operating within Kenya’s Asian business and customer networks.
- A bachelor’s degree or diploma in Business, Sales & Marketing, Engineering, Automotive, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of proven B2B sales experience, ideally in construction equipment, heavy machinery, commercial vehicles, or the broader automotive sector.
- A demonstrable record of exceeding sales targets and winning new accounts, particularly within the Asian business community in Kenya.
- Hands-on experience managing key accounts, prospecting effectively, negotiating complex agreements, and closing high-value deals.
- Strong commercial awareness, including the ability to work with cost structures, pricing models, profit margins, and customer budget constraints.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills, with the confidence to engage senior decision-makers.
- A valid driving licence and a willingness to travel frequently across Kenya for client meetings, site visits, and industry events.
