Role Overview
This role sits at the intersection of data, sourcing, and merchandising. Day to day, the analyst turns raw internal and external information into reliable datasets, reports, and pricing insights that help the International Merchandising & Sourcing teams make sharper commercial decisions. The position matters because consistent, well-managed data gives the business a clearer view of vendor performance, competitive pricing, and sourcing objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Gather and consolidate data from primary and secondary sources, then keep the supporting databases and data systems accurate, organised, and current.
- Partner with management to decide which business questions and information requirements should take priority.
- Assemble and store data generated by the International Merchandising and Sourcing departments in a governed, easily retrievable way.
- Pull datasets for ad hoc requests and verify that results are consistent, accurate, and trustworthy before they are shared.
- Recommend improvements that make strategic databases more scalable, efficient, and capable of handling evolving reporting needs.
- Track sourcing data against objectives, examine how pricing choices affect financial outcomes over time, and brief the relevant stakeholders.
- Research and review vendor and competitor pricing, then deliver clear pricing intelligence to the merchandising and sourcing teams.
- Translate complex findings into practical summaries that support sourcing strategy, negotiation, and day-to-day commercial decisions.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related quantitative field is preferred.
- Experience: 2–4 years in a business analyst, data analyst, or statistical analysis role.
- Domain exposure: Strong hands-on experience managing e-commerce, data, or digital marketing initiatives.
- Technical toolkit: Expert-level SQL and Advanced Excel, plus scripting ability in R, Python, or another relevant language.
- BI platforms: Practical experience with tools such as Power BI, Tableau, QlikView, Data Studio, or similar reporting environments.
- Analytical thinking: Proven ability to quickly synthesise large, disconnected datasets, distil the important patterns, and draw sound conclusions.
